Well, this is my first post. I've been lurking for a couple of days, reading everything that I can. I can't belive that I found this forum. I thought that I was the only one that appreciated the the "Swan Beauty" in the "Ugly Duckling" of the rugged and utilitarian Ruckus. I First fell in Love with the Ruckus when I lived in Las Vegas. The cost of gas and the impracticality of driving less than a mile each day to and from work made me think that there must be an alternative. I started looking and after checking out all of the possibilites I had settled on a Zuma. It looked sort of feminine but hell it pretty much fit all of the requirements. So I went to a dealer That had a great price ona barely used Zuma. A Honda dealership... I didn't even get to the Zuma, the genuis that ran the dealership saw fit to park a Ruckus about six feet inside the front door. I don't think that I need to elaborate for a group of people that frequent a forum dedicated to the Ruckus. But I was in love. Long story, Shortened. I got transfered, from Vegas to the outskirts of Indianapolis, IN. It has taken me a couple of weeks, But I found the right dealer and the right price. I pick her up on Friday. Gonna order a Showa Shock from Battlescooter in a day or two. ;D So there it is, I'm about to enter a (hopefully) long and (undoubtedly) happy relationship, any advice?

welcome to the board, i made the shock change my first mod, and was glad i did. as far as suggestions, read as much of this forum as you can, many questions have been asked and answered here. do a search on any subject before asking a question, and most importantly post pictures. us ruckaholics can't get enough pictures.

Thanks, Smacky.
Yeah, the shock mod notion came from my reading here. I am a big fan of the search tool and I have a pretty nice digital camera at my disposal. Now I just have to figure out how to post pics and I'm on my way.

i and some other members use photobucket photobucket.com/ it's free. sign up, upload pictures to your online album then copy the bottom address of the three they give you into your post. Fox also has an image service PM (personal message) him to get details. i like photobucket cause it automatically resizes your image, and the address can be copied directly in, without adding any code. i haven't tried fox's, but i'm sure it's just as good. always preview your post when adding a picture, make sure everything looks OK.

I use the photo bucket option as well, Foxes is cool but you need to size the ;)before you send them into his, otherwise they are way too big for the board . The photobucket one will also let you cut down your pics to make photo avatars.

I'm off (on vacation) till Sunday and I don't know if I'll make it till Friday... Five days of anticipation is almost more than I can handle.
I've already started drinking, HEAVILY...
Then again, everyone I know calls me Gambrinous...

Btw, Spoon. I really like your site. Well done. Love the tank, Ruckus, hummer graphic. I'm going to have to get one of those shirts to wear to the bar. And the streamlined mod instructions are great. I almost know what I'm doing now. Whereas before it was dust in the wind. You arent going to surprise everyone and admit to being Uri Geller, are you?

Ah, good to hear a love story on a Monday night.
You might also consider the footpeg mod, when you get the girl.
But most of all, enjoy the hell out of her... I need to go home and enjoy mine...

Kami No Chiizu, = God of Cheese? I think, My Japanese is a little rusty. Nami No Chiizu = Wave of Cheese... I think that, if that is a correct translation, is histerical. The Japanese don't have much use for cheese... I love it! I wish I was that witty. Thanks to everyone that took the time to respond. Yeah I think that it is a love story... Long distance, to begin with but she is almost within my grasp. If that sounds lustful, it's because it is! Screw you, you uptight bible belt folks, I'm in love with a scooter! Damn, Friday is a long way away.

Oh, Yeah, pegs... I would like to do the peg thing but I want to get a feel for her first. I would like to put the pegs in front. I really like the floorboard frame brace with the front pegs.
I'm almost 6'3" so tucking isn't really an option for me. I'm not looking for breakneck speed. Just a bit more than stock when it comes to comfort while I'm toolin around the lake, or heading out for beer runs.

I'm definitely one to think that pictures are worth a thousand words, but I do need to work on the verbage for the mods. BTW, I'm not Uri, I'm his less famous, un-inventive and broke evil twin!

Welcome Nubian. i see a lot of your questions have been answered. i'm 6'2" myself so i understand your "tucking" issue. i put BMX handlebars (it takes some fabricating) on my ruck and tilted them forward. now when i ride my arms are fully extended. remember the ruckus was built by little japanese people so we must mold our little stallion to suit our big frames. now there is plenty of room for my legs/knees and most importantly, the tuck. if fabrication isn't your thing you can buy the battlescooter stem and handlebar. this will allow you to do the same thing...only a little more expensive and less CuStOm. now your wonderful Ruckus journey begins. good luck, and we are all here for you.

You win the prize, I am the God of Cheese... you get a block of swiss or provalone.
The full name is Banno G-Walla, Incan Kami no Chiizu, if I spelled it right. Ha, that's something nobody knows.

Thanks Pome. The Handlebars are near the top of the list. I'm not much of a fabricator but I think that I could wing it. I don't get her till friday. I need to get her home and stare at her for an hour or two... then it will all come to me. Tyger, Thanks for the recomendations. Roller weights, variator and a cdi are going to have to wait untill I finish reading EVERYTHING that I can find on the topics. I'm not one to jump into a project until I have totaly wrapped my head around the concept and the process. I'll do all of those things eventually, But I want to feel her out first. Kami, Surprisingly my Japanese has not rusted to the extent that I thought it had. If only I could read Kanji/Romanji I could order all of those cool Japanese Zoomer aftermarket parts. Oh, as much as I love a good Swiss, it doesn't age as well as Provolone. Provolone it is.

Sorry guys, about the lack of updates. I spent about four hours at the dealership friday afternoon, only to find out that because of the huge security breach that Mastercard had, My card wouldn't work. I guess I was one of the maybe 6 victims that actualy had fraud activity on my account. I actually got 3 calls. One from the F.B.I.(left a message) one from my bank and the third from my card issuer trying to confirm weather or not I had spent $2000.00 on computer parts at a mall in North Dakota. I'm rather new in town so I haven't switched my bank account over just yet. Needless to say the Honda dealer wouldn't take my out of state check. I called my bank and they said that My account had been frozen but they could send me a cashiers check on good faith (several generations of my family have used the same bank) the soonest that they could mail me a cashiers check would be Tuesday. Explained this to the dealer, now he's lookin at me funny like... Goddamn Hackers! Now I have to wait three more days before I can pick her up.
