The price is really really high but isn't unfairly so when you consider that the kit includes new rims and hubs. I do wish you could choose your rims though. I like the 5 spoke ones the best.

Yes they are very exspensive. You could buy 1 or 2 chinese scooters for the price. The forks of the chinese scooters might work and many come with disk brakes. If I lived in florida, St louis or comifornia I would go by a dealer and check them out.

But,
The malossi race for tubes which only come in anodized red are $660. Throw in wheels, the disc brake kit w/ a wavy rotor, cables, and oem quality parts- no headaches. I called around the country and found a scooter shop in hawaii that could get the dio fork tubes for like $600. The kids in japan have access to motorcycle junkyards like you would'nt belive, and stealing scooters is very common over there. I think those are the resons why so many rides over there have them. So, $1340~ is not bad for fresh honda parts shipped from japan at a price comparable to tokyo parts. I thought that they would cheaper too, but the conversion is more complicated than I thought.

I havent heard of scooter theft being big in Japan, infact I have heard the opposite. Theft in Japan is nearly non-exsistant. There are a lot of junked scooters there but most people don't buy much in the way of used parts. Another reason for highly modified scooters there is more simple. Kids stay at home often until they are married leaving more disposable income.

I agree is a reasonable price for new parts, but still expensive
