I use reg oil in everything I have ever owned. But I never ran around at 8000 rpms in my cars and trucks. I belive you said you have over 1000 km on your met so you do have it broken in and it is now ok to use synthetic oil. Keep w/ the correct weight of oil and all should be good. The synthetic oil will reduce the wear on your engine and in theory should last damn near forever. I live in the northern part of the US and the body falls apart long before any of my engines ever have (other than a crappy little chevette I once owned). And that just liked eating head gaskets and waterpumps.

WE have some answers under oil change just some posts down, but anyway, here is my opinion, everybody will tell you that synthetic oil is the best thing for engine since liquid cooling, however i think that if you change your oil regularly synthetic is just overkill. Synthetic oils keep their chemical stability long after petroleum base oil have loose theirs, and they have smaller stickier molecules so they stick to the metals longer allowing some lubricating film to be there on start up where most of engine wear occurs, that said, most modern petroleum base oils have additives to do this very same thing, so both oils behave similar when they are fresh, so if you change your oil every 1000 kms or 600 miles a good regular motor oil should be enough, and any oil change affects your millage for the better due to less friction losses, and might even improve performance for a while, sorry for the long answer, but you asked, and i just give you my opinion

LOL I changed the oil this past weekend, don't think the prevoius owner did the 1K cahnge @ 2K I decided it should be down reguardless.... I actually used some left over Motol oil form my CBR, and the thing seems to idel smoother and the small ticking sound @ start up has dissapeared.....
So I would think regualr 4-stroke oil would do the trick, but man 8 dallor a liter Motol really is nice....

But $8 a litre doesn't matter much when you only use a 1/2 for a change.
Hurts a lot more when you have to add 5 litres.
I would also think the "friction modifiers" would be irrelevent since there is no clutch or gearing bathed in the oil ?

You are correct Bobb, the ruckus/jazz engine does not need to be a special motorcycle oil, because in a regular motorcycle engine the clutch is a wet type and shares the oil with the engine, they need a special oil with no friction modifiers (additives to regular car motor oil to make engines more fuel efficient) that can burnt the clutch, our engine on the other hand are just like your car and do not share its oil with the clutch, so any car oil is perfect ;D
