Ok gonna install some BMX/Freestyle type pegs in the holes on the frame by the gas tank. Does anyone know the correct size bolts and washers to pick up? I am also gonna try and order a new shock this week from Abe. Is it best to go w/ the lagrest size possible ? I do some trail riding and am sick of bottoming out and don't want to ruin the axle . Is there a how-to on improving the stock forks someplace out there? I don't recall one.

rear shock supposedly makes a HUGE difference, and for now were screwed on the front shock being so soft and short traveled

The rear shock makes a gigantic difference. Cornering is MUCH smoother. The bike overall feels much more agile.

Yeah a shock makes a huge diff. I weight 165 and bought the Showa shock in the stock length. I ended up running it with the preload set at 5/5 cuz it was pretty soft otherwise. If you weigh more than me I'd go for the next length up.
Regarding the pegs....I had a hard time getting the right bolts. I went in to a fasteners place and they had everything but supposedly BMX pegs are a wierd thread cuz they didn't have em and couldn't get em. They gave me something that was really close that I could thread in maybe 1/2 inch. I used a bunch of washers to get it tight.
Another option is to go into you local bike shop and buy a BMX axle and two nuts for it. Cut the axle in half and thread the peg on one end and the nut on the other. You'll still need a washer cuz the nut will never be big enough to not slide through the hole in the frame.

I just went in to the hardware store and picked up any old nut and long bolt with a ew washers and just threw 'em on. They work just fine and don't become loose at all.
by the way... this is my 300th post! woohoo!!!

most bmx pegs that are threaded are probably 1/2-20 or something. you can get them that dont have threads-just a hole. then nut-n-bolt it like CT did. watch your leaning when you get them on, they look like they might drag.

They can drag, but you have to lean really far for them to scrape. Only when I make a turn onto a perpendicular road without dropping down to a low speed.

Thanks Dandy Dan for the axle idea. It worked out great, used the dremel to zip it in half and then had to custom cut the washers but I put them on today. I love the new riding position makes tucking way better and you can keep your knees inside behind the battery box (little more aero.) I will throw some ;)out this weekend. Next step: Do I want the 285 or 310 shock? I am around 250 lbs??

Well I vote 310 with preload at like 1/5 so you'll have a super plush shock. If you go 285 you'll likely need to crank it up. This way you are riding at the same height basically with both but the 310 would feel more silky and you always have the option to crank it up if you want a higher rear end or a stiffer ride.
