Been a couple weeks now riding with new exhaust.Played with jetting and found the jet (.90) I had been using to perform the best. Have not realized any noticeable performance improvement. Gonna take notes and go back to stocker for better comparison. Notice a considerable amount of soot on the exhaust, wheel, and tire. THE muffler has a high oulet which may explain why I never saw soot with it. Stuck my finger in there and it's black with soot too. If the Ruck runs as well or better with the stocker I may just go back to it. I like the stealthy quiet compared to the dixie chopper lawnmower sound. It's not too loud but I think the less noise the better. ;D 5/20/05 went back to the .85 main and runs pretty good. Got up to 8760rmp with a tail and a little downhill,8300 cross wind. Seems to be pullin better at high rpm Don't know what I would gain clippin the diaphram spring, runnin too well through the throttle range to mess with.

;D Really nice looking muffler, check in past post about a muffler that ruckass installed, and yes you are running rich, the problem is that the cure is not that simple, by design the intake runner in our engines makes a very sharp turn going in, the exhaust on the other hand is a very good flowing runner, so at high rpms (where we do most of our running) the gas just separates from the mixture and collects at the top of the piston, so the best solution seems to get a shorter diagpharm spring and goin to a smaller jet (have to do both or it will not work)it is not that easy because we do not have shorter springs to play with, so we have to get an spare an cut it 1/2 coil at a time untill we are satisfied (or we go too far)

Does that soot really matter? Just spray down the back end and it will take it off. The exhaust shouldnt change the power much either, this is a 4 stroke, not a 2 stroke.
Your lucky its not a 2 stroke, if that little amount of soot bothers you, you'd be ready to kill your bike with all the spoonge a 2 smoker makes.

Cosmeticly it's not a problem, just like you say, just clean it off. The problem being is, in the long run, running rich may carbon up the engine and then you get into run-on and foulling problems, which will greatly reduce your riding pleasure! I think a few more carb adjustments are in order. I'm a newbee so I cannot suggest anything more specific for a course of action. Just an armchair mechanic! worse than a back seat driver!!!!!1ol

Just decarbonize the engine every now and then... that should solve that problem.
