Yes I know there are other threads - but they digress too far for my response to get to the bottom line idea of the originator so here goes my questions:
Will installing a variator from BattleScooter store will improve acceleration?
Will installing a variator from BattleScooter store will improve top speed?
Does the variator kit require additional purchases of weights?
Are there detrimental problems with the aftermarket variator, such as shortening the life of the belts?? or anything else?
Will the new parts last as long as the original variator?
Are any other mods needed if I get the store variator such as carb or exhaust work?
Any questions I have forgot? - Oh yeah - can I use the same size belt - the same belt?

improve acceleration?- depends on rollers you choose,if you go with the recomended weights you'll definately improve over the stocker with stock weights. improve top speed?- yes, belt will ride a tad higher giving you a higher ratio than s tock variator require additional purchases of weights? yes at least six Are there detrimental problems with the aftermarket variator, such as shortening the life of the belts?? or anything else?- They only problems you might incur would be due to mistakes in install. Will the new parts last as long as the original variator? -Don't see why not. Are any other mods needed if I get the store variator such as carb or exhaust work?-NO Any questions I have forgot? - Oh yeah - can I use the same size belt - the same belt?- Yes If I knew then what I know now, this would have been mod #1 Consise enough?

improve acceleration-YES
improve top speed-YES
purchase of weights-YES just order a pack of 3 X 5.5 gram weights and a pack of 3 X 6.0 gram weights with the variator when you order them from battlescooter.
shortened life? -perhaps a slight bit because you are asking the ruckus to perform harder, however, it is NOT significant enough to not purchase and aftermarket variator
last as long as original variator-YES
other mods-NO
same belt-YES
overall you have to do this. it is the cheapest mod that will get you the most results. I would also install the CDI at the same time. the CDI will allow the variator to work to it's full potential. it eliminates the stock rev limiter and will allow you to go over 40 atleast downhill easily. it also advances the timing so your gas/air mixture is ignited at it's peak horsepower potential. remember your ruckus' engine isn't some huge machine so you're not going to feel insane differences after installing these upgrades. oh and uh "ABE" owner of battlescooter will tell you the same stuff as i just said if that makes you feel any better. hope this helps

Installed the new Dayton virator last niggt, complete with 3x5.5 gms & 3x6 gms and what a difference it made. ;D
Top speed (before the rev limiter) was @ 56km and now the needle gets past the 60km mark...so yes I got around 5 more kms top end.
Off the line speed is better, but the real change is going up hills. Used to go around 30km up most hills though now its more like 50km and it continues to gain speed the whole way up...
Best mod ever, the only trouble I had with the install was geting the main nut off the Virator. Eventaully I made the universal virator/clutch/etc wrench, made all the difference in the world!
