I just changed my oil two days ago at 216 miles on both of the Rucki, and I used synthetic oil. I was then cruising the forum when I read that you should wait until 1000 miles?!? Now the question... ??? Should Throw away the $9.00 a quart cycle oil and refill with fossil oil, or am I safe? . I read some say 100 miles and the engine is cured, and others say 500 miles and yet other say 1000 miles..... In my cars, when new I change at 200 miles twice then every 2500 miles. Please give advise...

Just change the oil every 600 miles. And you don't need super expensive motorcycle oil.

I wouldn't worry about it. nThe engine should be broken in at 216 miles. Anyway, it's done. Continue with the synthetic. I have been following the owner's manual of 2500 KM (about 1525 miles as an oil change schedule and I have 10,000 plus KM on mine.
I am concerned with the oil drain plug. The aluminum threads will strip really easily, so the more frequent oil changes doesn't help this. What do we do when the threads go?

I would venture to say you could find the drain plug at a local autozone, as long as you take the plug with you or know exactly what size it is. I wouldn't think you'd have to go to the Honda dealership to find the drain plug for your Ruckus. I could be wrong though. Good Luck!

The concern I have is with the Threads for the oil drain plug. The engine casting is aluminum which will strip easily if the drain plug is removed and replaced a lot.

If ya dont over tighten it every time... it should last a long time... and if ya do strip it... they make i tap to place a heli-coil in it... I put a heli-coil in alum Honda pans every month at the dealer because shade-mechanics dont believe in torque wrenches...

I really would not worry about it. FWIW - I don't have a Ruck but doesn't the drain plug have an aluminum crush washer? When tightening most drain plugs you will feel the washer being crushed? Over time aluminum crush washers "work harden" and don't crush as easy. Replace the washer every 6-10 oil changes.

I think Honda recommends either every oil change or every other oil change to change out the aluminum crush washers.
