Just got my 2006 zoomer yesterday, second hand and got 13000 miles on the clock. Would like to do a main service to it and would like to know how and how often you need to change transmision oil. A list of other jobs for a scooter with this milage would be appreciated. Regards Ian England

I'd change it at least every 1,200 miles. Oil changes every 600 miles. Change it with gear oil designed/approvied for hypoid type gear boxes. The oils should be changed when the bike is warm. You will probably want to put in a new belt, and roller weights as well if this has not been done recently.

If you don't have the manual, there's a thread on here someone that has scans from the owner's manual of the oil change pages. It's like Oil Change directions as per manual or something is the thread title. *Days later, Kami notices this thread is about gear oil, not engine oil.

If I recall correctly, the gear oil is supposed to be changed every 10,000 miles....but I could be wrong about this. Changing it every 1200 miles is a good idea but probably more often than required. If you do it once per year (ie. spring tune up) then you should be safe.
Honda didn't give us a drain bolt for the transmission (which indicates how rarely they expect us to change it) so changing it is kinda hard. You can either unbolt the transmission entirely and get all the gear oil out OR you can tip the scooter over and drain it out of the fill hole. Unbolting the entire tranny is a few hours job. It requires unbolting the drive cover and rear clutch and then removing the muffler and rear wheel. Then you can unbolt the tranny, clean out the gear oil and then you have to use sealant to re-seal it and then you bolt everything back together and fill it up with fresh gear oil.
The alternative method is to tip the scooter over and drain it out of the fill hole. This isn't very hard but you only get maybe 80% of it. This is normally what I do. I warm the gear oil up with a quick ride and then remove the fill bolt and tip the scooter way over to get as much as I can.

Or you can do it the wise man way and use an oil vacuum or an oil syringe
