Until daily reading took place I didn't realize how many people thought "Hey, for like $10 I can make my ruckus go 60mph. Right?" Snapped there for a sec. Sorry. I just wish more people found a passion for what the ruckus is instead of what a super-charged drag bike is. It gets me down. I love my ruckus and I'm all about making it my own. I think that 50cc is one of the best parts. I bought Lucy thinking that because of my weight I would only cruise at 30 to maybe 35mph. With the variator and 8cm low seat, I'm astounded everytime I look down and see that I'm going over 40mph. For those of you that are new to the ruckus, making it go 60mph is like taking you mom's 94' ford taurus and making it go 170mph. It can be done. It takes a lot of time, money, and patience. Oh, and a BIGGER(much bigger) engine and transmission. If you still want to do it, do it. But don't ask "how can I make it go 60?" ask "Where can I find a 250cc scooter engine?" I'm ranting and I'm sorry. If this post is deleted it won't hurt my feeling much I just needed to maybe let people into my world. Thank you for reading. And I'm not really so bitter or hardcore.

No, you're echoing my feelings pretty much. Tried posting a sticky in the performance section to try to destroy the myth of the easy 50 mph Ruckus. Hafta add to that.

I'm pretty new to posting here, so I'm trying not to step on anyones toes. I don't know about the average ruckus owner, but I really had to think about dropping 2g's on a scoot. I did a lot of research before I made a move. I had a parts list even. In the last couple weeks I've seen several people that rushed in and regret it. Patience is a virtue.

wow, luckly i got my ruckus as a second toy, my zx10r gives me my need for speed. but i am also amazed by the hunger for speed on the ruckus on this web site. bought mine for milage looks and fun. im not understanding the thrive for speed on the ruckus. ive got $3000. in mods on my bike and its dynod at the rear wheel with 165hp. it was 183hp at the engine stock. ill drop 1000.00 on mods for my ruckus. but not in the engine.

Yeah, a lot of people don't understand. Chanito will get on here and preach about how he bought the Ruckus because it's the most advanced engine in the world.
I didn't care about speed. A little more power up hills would be nice, but if I wanna run with traffic, I'll pick up a bigger bike.
And you guys have no idea how many people have joined over the last four years and their first post is asking how to get more speed. Oi, vey.

I did a lot of reading here, purchased, and started modding my ruckus before my first post. I love my ruckus so much. Gaa!

The good news is there are lots of people that buy the Ruck, hate how slow it is, and then sell it with little to no miles on it.

yea, i mean. if you want something to do 60mph just buy a regular motorcycle or maxi scooter if your not into shifting.it would take more time and money to put a bigger engine in the ruck than buying another bike that can do 60. the ruck is a fun toy and meant for citys and back roads

Don't get me wrong, if I could make my ruckus go 60mpg for $200 and an hour worth of work I would do it in a heart beat. All this will be easier with FI. Then I'll go 60mph. He he. I was kidding. The ruckus will still not go 60mph. Nor will the the hummer. sorry.

I've since changed the power to come on more realistically and now I'm at 52 on the limiter. BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT I have every single performance mod you can have, and some you can't. I've spent a small fortune on the engine, and a lifetime of tuning.

It's all about how much do you time, effort and money do you want to sacrifice. If you love the Ruckus, and you love to tinker and have money to burn, then see to it. But if you think you like the Ruckus, but want something you can pass cars in, you're sadly mistaken.

I said once before that the cheapest way to hit 60mph is the kitaco cdi and a really steep hill. I would assume that you could only do once. But if it you're last hurrah...

I thought about running with it to get moving down a hill without engaging the clutch to see how fast I could go, but I'm scared of accidentally hitting the throttle and having the clutch catch at 70mph. I don't even want to imagine the engine damage. Please DON"T do this! I don't want to be held responsible for the death of you or your ruckus. It would still be cool(scary as hell) to say that you had gone 70mph+. DON'T do it!

Yeah, New here and to the Ruckus. I never dreamed that the Ruckus would get my 235lb buttocks over 35, I routinely go about 42 in the flat/ I bought the Ruckus for the amazing gas mileage and it's ruggednes. I ride the roads of Detroit and I need a scoot that will carry me and take the beating. If I wanna go fast I get in my Wrangler and do a little gear jamming, I always regret it after the fill up though. I plan to try mixing roller weights, beefing the suspension and maybe adding some light and a real horn. I never plan to try to get it to go faster than it does now. I love my Ruck and will for miles to come.
