Hi, I am new to this board. and got a 2004 black ruckus. Pics will be up soon with 2 other ones.. just want to intro myself first. but back to the topic I am looking into easy mods such as the variators. Now.. i dont want to sacrifice the acceleration, but i want higher top end speeds. what do i buy/get? to achieve that? any info is much appreciated.

i jsut want some top speed out of this. not acceleration
say 45mph, or 70km/h..
would i go with 3 3grams and 3 8grams?

You'll need to shorten the varitor spacer to get a higher top speed. That gears things taller across the board so you'll then need lighter roller weights to get your acceleration back. If you go too light then there won't be enough force to push the ruckus into it's tallest gear so you'll slow down.
You won't get to 45mph with just variator mods. You might come close to 70km/hr (43.5mph) if you gear it as tall as possible but you will lose accleration even if you use the lightest roller weights possible. The lightest you can go and still ensure you get to your top speed is a 6g average weight. The cheapest way to do this is to use three stock weights (7.5g) and buy three 4.5g from battlescooter. You might run higher than the 8k rev limit with these weights so a CDI might help you out. If you don't want a CDI you should be safe with 3 stockers and 3, 5g or 5.5g weights.

The CDi is nice. You should notice a difference. If you have the spare $$$ do it.

mow some lawns, buy the cdi. the aftermarket variators are nice too, but apparently they change the ramp on the variator, so DON'T shave the spacer on an aftermarket variator. the belt will hit stuff if u do!
