Do the rear brake pads yourself...it's super easy. Just remove the exhaust and rear rim and then you'll be starting at the brake shoes. They are just held in place by a spring which you can unclip. Replace them, put the rear wheel back on and then use the dial adjuster on the end of the brake cable to get them tightened correctly.
Replacing the belt is an even faster job but it does require either a variator tool or an impact gun. Essentially, you just pop off the drive cover, remove the variator and rear clutch and then lift off the old belt and drop the new one on. If you don't have these tools then I would expect to pay 0.5 to 1.0 hours of labour at around $80/hr. It's a lot but better to pay that then to mess this up because things can go pretty badly if you don't put it back together right.

Ok so the brakes sound easy, but I think I will let The guys at the honda shop do the belt. Ok is it harder than changing disk brakes on a car? I have done this many times and I feel the hardest thing to change the disk brakes on a car is you better have a vice grip or clap to get the calibers back open, without bleeding the brakes.
If I know how to do that do you think I could do the back brakes?
does anyone have pictures, or videos?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,chris

;D ;DGot new belt and rollers, cost me I think $75.00-$80.00 but my speed on my ruckus is back up to 40+ mph it seems my accelaration has been affected with the new belt. Its not as fast when you excelorate but when you get to top speed its like about almost 10 mph faster. My belt was hella lose and my rollers were hella flat..............chris.........................mabe next time I might try it myself, when I get to portland.

Good deal. Yeah, it's much cheaper to change it yourself, provided you have the tools. Glad to hear she's running good, though.
