Okay, which way do I go?  Do I mod the hell out of the motor that's in Rocky (my ruckus) now? or do I just go ahead and get that Helix motor everyone is talking about? Which costs more? I know the helix woulod be fun and fantastic. But will it cause me more headaches in the future? Which is cooler? |

well i think a small chevy big chevy swap would be cool.. oh sorry. keep the ruck motor. call abe. he can help. the force is strong in this one .

well, I think it'd be cool to ride around with a a modded ruck. But I'm also looking at dollars spent versus speed gained. After all, I would document the whole thing from every penny spent to every screw installed.
But if I got the helix, the BSS wouldn't benefit. Abe, I'm thrinking about you, bro. So, this is a dilemma, too....UGH!!!

well, a ruckus will never be legal to go on the interstates. otherwise, a ruckus is ok as long as the other drivers aren't out of control. my ruck goes about 45 downhill and 35 up nasty hills. im going to port the head and do a cam in the future but its ok at 90 mpg right now. how is traffic around you? and how would you like explaining to the cop why you were doing 70 on a 49cc scooter?

CTruckus, as for dependability I had a Helix for 17 years. All I ever did was change oil, air filter, spark plug. The belt was like new after all that time. The Helix is a dependable power plant as long as it's cooled properly.  |

I don't think I'll ever do 70mph on it. There are a ton of hills around here and top sp[eed on Rocky would be about 30mph at most. So many people pass me everyday on that hill. I hate that. Also, sometimes, I feel that I don't have the get-up-and-go that I would feel comfortable with to get out of sticky situations.
I guess what I should be asking is, without breaking the bank, would I be able to get a noticeable low end boost with a significant over all top speed increase? (without going over the amount it would cost me to do the motor swap)

Go with the helix motor swap, from what ive heard, for $450 its completely ready to be installed, and shipped within the continental US. I dont think you'll be able to get any type of power diference out of the 50 like u will by swapping the helix motor in for that much money...

don't worry, it's just me being a jack-"edit profanity". As you'll soon find out, I am usually a jack-"edit profanity". I will mod Rocky out, though. I just like doing a "edit profanity" load of research and I like to ask a lot of questions before I do stuff. I want to understand it fully before making a change to my scoot. My money is my money and bust my "edit profanity" for it. So, I just like to know where it goes...As should everyone. I read this forum everyday. I read all sorts of stuff online to find out "if I change this, what will happen to that". So, in the meantime, instead of being a "ghost" or someone who just sits here and reads peoples' posts, I post too. okay.....now I think my buzz is catching up with me. ha! ;D niiiiiiiiice!!! |
