Hey! just thought I would show off my new 06 baked fresh in the oven only a weekend ago *insert sparkles here* I followed Suprtek's advice and found someone in Alabama who gave me a cash deal of $1850. They wouldn't take $1800 because of some registration fee, but that was fine and all because I was saving about $700! Anywho, I am now in the ranks of other Ruckus riders *salutes*. I've already put on 230mi this week just searching out the backroads here in Cleveland. And the speed couldn't be more perfect! I expected a slow start off and was worried about climbing steep roads, but it kept a solid 30mph up the steepest hill, and on straight-aways it was avg. 42-45mph (upwind, about 37-42mph). Our fastest in-town road is 45mph, and I've even passed people on this road. I LOVE THE RUCKUS! It's working great!!!

I moved this thread out of the Big Ruckus section. Thanks for the pics! Looking good! Enjoy the ride! You need to buy a Polini variator to make it go even faster and then blow your life savings on aftermarket parts like I do

So any advice on where to start with aftermarket parts? I guess the easy way is to work right through with battlescooter's store, but what other companies or options are out there? there's so much out there and I'm not sure where to start.

Yeah that's your Ruckus hitting the 8850rpm redline. My 06 hit is stock at 43mph. The ECM kinda cuts the spark so your engine cuts out partially after that.
As for aftermarket parts, you need to decide if you want to do performance and/or visual mods. Most of the visual mods are at battlescooter.com, vtcycles.com and jiangwayne.com/scooter
For performance mods you need to decide if you want to get into rejetting or not. If you're almost happy with the performance then a Polini variator should top it off nicely but if you want a big improvement you're gonna get into mods that require a lot more work because you need to rejet your carburator which is basically a trial and error process. If you're gonna get into mods that require carb rejetting you may as well do them all because if you just do one mod like a new intake you're gonna go through all that hassle for very little gain. If you do the intake, exhaust, cam and piston it's the same amount of rejetting work for a way bigger bang.
A good idea is to start by looking through the members rides section and looking for parts that you like.

Is there a specific Polini variator type for the Ruckus?

I got a question about the helmet. I always assumed the visor on one of those would catch wind and pull your head backwards... do you have that problem?

I've never had a problem riding with it. You can feel the wind push your head around a bit if you're looking around, but my guess is that the wind scoots out the sides or goes though the hole in the top of the visor. No biggie, just a cool look...hmm. I hope that visor isn't affecting my overall speed...I wonder

Is there a specific Polini variator type for the Ruckus? Kinda, it fits a couple 50cc 4-stroke Honda scooters that basically all use the same or related engine. Your best bet is to go to MiamiMoto.com and in the left side menu near the bottom click 'Variator Kit' and then in the right column of variators it's about the 5th-7th one down and it says Honda 50cc 4-stroke. They're 76$ plus about $5 shipping which is a sick deal. For comparison, the Daytona variator from Battlescooter is not as nice and it costs over $100 plus $12 shipping plus it doesn't come with weights like the Polini does so you'd have to spend $30 to get 9 weights like the Polini has so the totals are about $81 vs $150. You can find Kitaco variators online for almost as cheap as the Polini but they aren't as good either.

You should come over for the Pittsburgh rally in Sept. Also there are scooter races At Beaver run that I have been meaning to check out. Any how congratulations on your extra wheel.
