Howdy to all ya crazy drivers. I'm just about to purchase the " BIG RUCKUS" up here in Ontario (at a cost of $7000). But I sure would like to get an idea about the mileage per tank full on these things. I saw 37 MPG and almost fell over. I thought these little beasties would do better then that ! So can I please get soom REPORTs from you guys ....... Thanks Much ....Packrat

Packrat, welcome to the site. There are many typos in the specs for the '05 PS250. The mpg is wrong, the specs for the rear shock and the brakes are also wrong. I weigh 248lbs and I have averaged over 65mpg. I just switched to synthetic oil and hope to increase the mpg. I also have a slipstreamer shield that I hope will increase the mpg and extend the riding season as to cutting the wind chill factor. Now that the '06 bikes have been introduced you should be able to bargain on the price of an '05. Why are vehicles so damn expensive in Canada?? In any case have fun and you will love it. Another bargaining point should be that the riding season especially in your part of the country is just about over for most sane riders.

Pallettman here, Only had mine for 2 weeks, but so far I am getting 75 MPG. Ride very conservatively, but love the mileage so far.

Are you kidding? It was 28 degrees out today..oops sorry , you yanks measure it in an ancient form...that's about 80 stone, er....farenheit. Remember...lol...Parts of canada are farther south than parts of california. And almost all of canadians live right near the 49th parallel. In toronto, our winters have FAR les snow than buffalo just south of us. Most years you can ride right into December.

OK People - Thanks for the return reports.
I think that the ~70Mpg sounds MUCH better. And YES, we do ride up into December in many cases with weather permitting of course. So this Ruckus sounds super except for the price, and that in its self is kind of holding me back. I crunched-out the numbers on price; and by the time I get this thing home with insurance/plates and paid off, will be well over $8600 ! OUCH ! Now I'm really "edit profanity"-off cause I like this thing !!! I'm going to have too give this some more consideration / justification. Please let me win the Lotto !!!!!!! Thanks again everyone !! I bought a BR in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The dealer told me that all the Honda dealers in Canada were forced to take one big ruckus for their showrooms. Apparently, Honda Canada gave each dealership a bunch of incentives to take a BR because the dealers were complaining that they didn't think they could sell the BRs. The dealer that I bought mine from had the list price as 7,000, but they were selling it for 6,000. They said they were simply passing on Honda Canada's incentives to the customer. So the bottom line is that I paid 6,000 for a brand new 05 BR in Winnipeg. Maybe each dealer only sold their first BR at the lower price and all other BRs thereafter at the higher price. I don't know for sure.

Packrat..... I spent 6400 plus all insurance etc...and still money well spent I think. It is a real pleasure to drive...cheap on gas...can park anywhere (maybe the traffic cops think it's for crippled people, but I NEVER get a ticket parking right on sidewalks in downtown t.o.). Put simply..it is a VERY well designed machine...The hardcore bikers might think it's a lawnmower...and the scooters want the italian vespa fashion accessory...but BAR NONE this is one of the BEST designed personal motor vehicles that has been developed in a while.... I HOPE it doesn't catch on...hehe...Will keep it's value as an underestimated collector's item in later years. Trust me....GET ONE!

;D OK everyone ....
You guys have convinced me and I have applied for loan. I am just debating on a 05 or 06 model, but really I don't think it matters at this point ( color ). I still don't like the price but then I'm cheap anyways, hence the gas mileage question ! I just wanted to be sure that for the money, we are getting a pretty good little machine. I think also that I will invest in a shop manual (just for playing around with the settings). Thanks again people & see ya on the road (in Hamilton) ! ! ! ! Packrat

Teds you are my kind of guy, once when i was young i climb the Andes in a convetible and got to the highest paved road in the earth (Ticlio at 5500 meters above sea level) that was crazy as the top froze and we had to keep driving with the top down untill we got down to sea level, that was terrible

I gew up between 10 and 20 miles east of Lake Ontario and we rode a little in the winter mostly during the winter thaw but then again we spent way more time on sleds than bikes from Nov-Mar.

I, placed street tires on my, BR (Pirelli brand) mileage increased from 65mpg to 68mpg. This is up slightly; but, cornering and acceleration is a bit better. I have the original set of tires; changed them because of a nail in the front tire with under 700 miles on them. Had the hole patched by a pro tire shop and will keep them for off road user. The heat build up is higher on pavement and I didn't want to chance the problem on the highway. Would consider selling off the set of original tires to someone who would not want to take them on the highway.

I've only had my BR for a week, but on the first three tanks I got 76.4, first tank, 65.5 second tank(must've been the wind) and 72.2 on the third tank, got just over 400 miles on it, and am in love with it, hope I don't spend too much money ordering goodies for it to make the first payment.

Howdy to all - again Well its been awhile since I started this post and it is MAY 2006. I am happy to state that I now have 1800 Km on my BR and my last miles/gallon (CND) was around 75. She is running fine (except for the sluggish take-off) and I have hit a top speed of 120 Km/Hr. I still love this little guy and am having more fun then when I had my Goldwing. I do hope to hear more on mods (like replacing that stupid air filter setup) and REPAIRING the take-off problems that all these bikes are having. Keep on inputting info people, think this site if just great ....... Good riding to all !!!!! ( a happy ) Packrat .........

I added a K&N air filter and a Supertrapp dirtbike muffler. It boosted performance without rejetting and my last couple of tankfulls showed 73 MPG.
