I have good information that Kitaco is looking into making a hybrid aftermarket CDI for the N.American Honda Ruckus, Jazz. As I thought, the main reason for little to no activity in the aftermarket parts for N. American Ruckus is because of the small market size. If it can be done without costing them too much, they will make em but they will no doubt be more expensive than the Zoomer ones available now.
I'll keep y'all posted.

I'm pretty stoked with the Japanese Zoomer CDI. I'm cruisin at 41mph on flat once she's warmed up with no mods other than: CDI, opened airbox and jetted/shimmed carb. If I were to make some variator mods I could really be screaming. When I had my Ruckus in the shop for the 1200$ worth of warrentee work (see Problems thread) then replaced the variator so I gotta get lighter weights again...likely when I order the cam.

The reason I was interested in mapping the Ruckus CDI was, I thought the electrical prob with my scoot might be due to the fact that the CDI isnt made for the N. American Ruckus. There might be minor differences that could shorten the life of the CDI. It didn't "clip" right in as the Japanes one does. I mean until its mapped, who really knows.

I understand. Did you buy the CDI from Battlescooter?

Sorry, your right, I did get that from you. At that exact same time I got a bunch of other stuff from Tokyo Parts in Japan. My fuel guage, roller weights, filter kit etc. Memory aint what it used to be.

Did you install it so the power and ground was controlled by the ignition switch? The reason I say this is because if it's not the CDI will be on all the time....not good

An update.
The CDI for both Asian and N. American Ruckus are the same. That said, both hybrid CDI boxes should work the same for both. Here is some more good news. There is a CDI wiring harness being made for the N. American Ruckus! I don't know when it will be ready but if you have tried installing it from scratch as some of us did, it'll be worth the wait. No soldering, splicing etc, clip it in and it works.

The N. American CDI won't be any better performance wise, it'll just be easier to install...right?

Help me understand. The difference in the wiring will only be two wires. Only two wires need to be soldered.
Is it too much to solder two wires? I'm not trying to be a jerk but if you can't do that I'm pretty sure you can't do the rest of the install.
Fire away... I just have to know

Well i certainlly would love one like they use on cars, just unplug the ecm, plug the cdi connector to it and plug the harness side of the ecm connector to the cdi and bingo you are done

What Chino said. Its just that much easier for noobs and people who are sure of their skills at soldering. Again, I bought a Kitaco and it had Japanese instructions. The battlescooter instructions/pics were a little tricky around that solder step. So I had a bit of a time figuring out what to do.
You have mechanical experience and have no probs with this sort of thing, some people arent and would like to be able to just bolt or clip on the parts they buy for their Ruckus. I know this may sound simple minded but some people don't get the same thrill out of the McGyver work that we do. They just see the fiddling around as interfering with their ride time.
