The Scoot magazine that has this article also has a neat article about The Dragon (Deals Gap) where we often ride in the Smokies. Written by a guy from Scenic City Scooters in Chattanooga, Tn........................... Great area to ride in....... ;D

Yeah, eventually I'll hafta read the magazine. Unfortunately, I buy magazines a lot faster than I read them, so they just stack up...

Thanks a lot I found it and love it. I tried to order a copy of it and hope it worked out. Thanks for your effort. That´s something special for me seeing my ugly face in an American magazine. Love the photos they took. The fellow leaning over the fence is my brother and his Zündapp KS 750 in front of him. On that bike we rode to the legendary elephant rally which is about 550 km away. The Woman leaning on the wall is our friend Helene from Australia. She normally rides a 900 cc Honda Fireblade. She rides a lot on her bike and travelled all over Europe but couldn´t understand how mad somebody must be to do it on scooter. By the way shortly after the photo I lay down and slept very long. Again I must explain the difference in the luggage on the photos. In England I decided to get rid of my very heavy army seabag and my Wehrmacht Rucksack on which the strap broke from the stuff inside. So I gave it to my tent neighbour after I bought another lighter bag for one english Pound. That was much better lighter and waterproof and maybe the reason why it took only 24 hours to ride back. (joking) Thanks again for your effort Mike quote author=kaminochiizu board=pictures thread=1172437574 post=1172437574]I scanned the two pages in jpgs, they'll take a bit of time to load on a snail's connection. Craziness, a good read. Page 1 GWalla.com/Ruckus/Scoot/ScootZoomerGB1.jpgPage 2 GWalla.com/Ruckus/Scoot/ScootZoomerGB2.jpgEnjoy. I suppose I could also scan the article on making a louder horn by BattleScooter's Abe, if you guys want. Geez, just never know what I'm gonna find in this little rag.[/quote]

thats is one crazy ride.............congrats. Hope I can gather the minerals to get myself into a long ride like that this summer. think about it very much and take a bit more time for it. I think even as I had great fun I would take a bit more time for it next time. But I red with interest the story about the Cannonball Rally for scooters............... I read one fellow´s idea to do it with a 50 cc. That sounds very interesting The only problem for me is the distance to USA and the high costs there would be to send the scooter but i keep an eye how far the thoughts will go. Greetings Mike

Anyway your story is very inspiring ............thanks.

I think it's about 800kms in 24hrs and there should be a good Ruckus crowd there.

I don't think everyone travels together but rather in a bunch of little 'packs' that are just kinda randomly formed ie. a bunch of friends might ride together or a bunch of people with the same scooter etc....I guess it depends on how many people are there but normally it's a smaller even so I'd guess there might be 20 - 30 scooterists this year.
Regarding the breaks....I think it's a fairly 'non-stop' sorta thing for the 50cc crowd so I imagine there will be a few gas and washroom stops but that's about it.

I wish you all the best and surely you will enjoy it. It´s Like I mentioned before I´m a Honda dealer here in town and ride CBR 1000 Fireblades and things like that but the most fun I have with my little bikes. Mostly 125 and the Zoomer. If I had more time and could leave my business much more I would promise you more stories about mad rides but in the moment life and economy is not so easy in Germany so I have to concentrate more on those things. I honestly would do the Cannonball on the Ruckus 50 but the time and costs are to much. Otherwise I would stand at the start line!!! If you need a bit more inspiration about slow rides and a great fellow so watch the movie "a straight story" This was inspiration to me and I love that movie. Greetings Mike s but there are b i. s hard enour fwith leavin, Zoo iv gre yeah, my first ride will be from Hamilton to Toronto............normally 45 minutes to an hour with car. roughly should take 2hours by Ruckus ............I will ween myself into taking these marathon runs....................then possibly go to Montreal, which is roughly 5 1/2 hours by car...................definitely bringing a tent and taking in the scenery. When I did my second run to England on a 50 cc Zündapp in 1980 the Girl who was with me rode a 50 cc Yamaha Chappy. Her longest ride before our trip was also a hour and a half and her father called her mad when we started (my parents already knew that i´m not a normal youngster). We nearly made it to Scotland and did over 3350 km in three weeks. The fun we had you never forget and I tell you we still see some of the fellows we met on that trip. What I want to say Everybody starts small. If you find a good spot on the map just go for it. As soon as you start you are on your way. One hour or ten doesn´t matter. I think there will be not a lot of time for any breaks. 800 km is a fair distance and you have to ride hard and nearly all the time. But it´s fun. Specially if you finished it succesfully. Mike If you go have fun d yeah, i think I'll be in for the MBR, just need to make sure I can be away from work at the time........................................what kind of breaks do they take within that 24hrs.
