I sanblasted then clearcoated the headlight frame after I powered-off the turnsignal tabs.

Are those handgrips thicker than the Honda anemic hard ones? Made by whom? Looks totally custom and great

Thanks! They are "Granturismo" grips, nos from the 70's-80's. They come in different lengths, and have an "air cushion" inside. I got them on Ebay, but they...here. tired-iron.com/minibike/body6.htm. The link doesn't work, but you can modify it, and fumble through their website, sorry. They are funny. They come with glue in a glass vial. I had a green pair that came with a brown glass vial that needed to be broken open. Very comfy. ;D

Congrats the ruckus is looking great, and your work is showing great, the look of the seat and handle bars is awesome ;D, the two tone on the wheels is a nice alternative to the Dio look, even the racing tank brace look good and i always though it was a bad idea (yours is the first one i lke it in) ;D ;D

Robo, thanx for the lead. I remember the squishy grips with the glass glue vials. I found some on JC Whitney. I even ordered some foam ones also. Rubber for 7/8ths bars and a set of foam ones were a total of $10.

Where did you buy that coolant reservoir? It looks 1000 times better than the stock one. How much was it?

Nice Ruckus! You should paint the center frame part (gas tank area) black too. Everything else is done so nice it'd be a shame to leave it alone.

wonderful, but one thing is obvious, you need a tail light mod or at least cut off unnecessary parts of the tail light cover .... f.e. like this :

I guess that's the problem with posting pics of a mod'd Ruck....no ones satisfied until it's perfect. Regardless of some potential changes you could make, it is a schweet looking ride. I do have a question about your lowered seat frame. I'm thinking about getting one and I'm wondering: 1) Did you get yours from the BSS or were you in Japan 2) Are you happy with the quality of the frame (welds etc) 3) How much does it lower the seat? If you have a chance could you measure the height from the top rail of the seatframe (ie. where the helmet lock attaches) down to maybe the 'R' in the word Ruckus so I can compare it to my frame.
And on a different topic: Where do you put your feet?

I sand-blasted the one from BSS. It's actully from the former Battlescooter. Yeah the light has to go, and I could probably make you guys sick with all the "planned" mods. There is a pattern of balck on metal. The bars, headlight rack, and sead frame were sandblasted then clearcoated, and they might be getting powder coated clear. But, if I painted my cast metal frame I'd break the metal-black-metal-black pattern. The frame might get buffed. I don't want to mess up the sticker.
If you are good at welding, you could modify your stock frame. I would say that is the best way to go- to get the part that you want. The welds are ok. If you make your own tabs, they can be bent so they can be welded to the inside of the frame. Modify where the tubing is going to be butted together, then make you own rear tabe. Rewelding the rear tabs is tricky. The tab was stamped giving ti a funky shape to weld.
I kind like the fact that my ride looks better at a distance and up close there are little blems all over it. It's no show bike. And I can use it on a normal basis. I actually ditched the 310mm shock, and ut on the stock shock with the top extension piece from the hurricane extension kit. I don't know if my shock is special or something, but it works surprisingly well. As you know dan the effective angle of the shock is extremely important, so with this setup, which looks cool, does not work very well. And being American, we tend to ride full throttle, where the japanese crowd just cruises around. My roller weights are getting huge flat spots every 2-300 miles.
And I'm tellin you that frame brace gives the best place to put your feet. It doesn't trap them, but the fit right on the tank cover. It's really nice. It defines your foot position like a motorcycle, and puts them in a nice spot for going through twisty roads. I know your concern, and the brace with the pegs is kinda slaped together, but there is a good spot for the feet.

Thanks for the details on the seat frame. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I can weld a bit but I' m not good and I don't have access to equipment right now.
When you put your feet on the gas tank cover doesn't that scratch it? I heard the plastic gas tank cover scratches super easy.

BSS has the coolant tanks, email the shop and but them to put them on their site along with all of their other new stuff.
The gas tank cover is actually a composite material. It's not a cheap part. It does get some swirls, but you could get fancy with some grip tape. I plan on modifying the "frame brace" in the future with some footboards.
