After using a pop can yesturday it occured to me a water bottle was even better!! A couple of my sweeties scuchies and I'm pullen dry air rain or shine. The decorative groves in the bottle keep the schuchies from slidin. The taper on the filter leaves room for plenty of air flow. The downward angle of the tube should prevent any water form getting to the filter surface.

Clever! It looks much nicer than the pop can. Do you find it restricts airflow at all?

Clever! It looks much nicer than the pop can. Do you find it restricts airflow at all? Peformance is the same. I figure the suface area of the filter is about four times the size of the intake. The cover rides 1/4" away from the filter about half way up and at no point is it air tight. I a down pour, I think it might suck a little water but for the most part it should be more than adequate. When I first oiled the filter I went a bit over board to extent the oil blocked the airflow to and the engine would not run. After blowing out the filter w/compressed air I could breath thru the thing as if there was nothing there. It's the same with the cover on. ;D

ok just got back from the gas station. the guy was looking at me funny cuz i was in the cooler with a tape measure checking all the bottles i got a small gatorade bottle and cut it up after i drank it... i found out that if u hold a lighter or torch to the hard plastic botles, they shrink like heat-shrink tubing. v1.0 looks like a wet diaper so im not taking a pic but when i get off tomorrow im gonna find a good bottle and not screw it up ;D mapp gas apparently isnt the heat source of choice for this mod ive been caught in rainstorms the last 3 days cause of hurricane dennis remnants thanks for the tip squirrelkiller!

mapp gas apparently isnt the heat source of choice for this mod HOLY C**P That stuff will melt a penny in a few seconds!! (kinna fun melting stuff ;D) Dude, just cut off the top and bottom leaving enough in the middle to extend past the end of the filter 1/2" or so.(too long and you'll block your kickstart lever) Water doesn't like to go up so if go past the bottom off the filter it should be good. Cut the center piece straight accross from top to bottom. (use scissors not a freekin torch) Dosen't matter if the sucker's too big in diameter just put the overlap on the bottom. A thin plastic is best and if you find one with groves it will keep the rubber bands/schuccies from slidng off. I used a small (10oz) bottle which only gave me a 1/4" overlap. Me thinks a Gator or soft drink bottles are thicker and too big in diameter to work as well. NO TORCH and don't run with the scissors!

use a candle for a nice slow roast or heat up over your stove if you want to shrink it.

I once used a hair dryer to thaw my ignition in feburary last winter. It only froze once the whole winter. 10min with the cover off and a blow drier and I was back in business.
