no worries spoon, with my girth you'll have no trouble keeping up, no matter what mods i have. spend your money getting mrs. spoonie a ruck. that would be cool.

I'm sure people will want to get as much info as possible.

haven't really rode it yet. just in the street in front of my house. the dio fork is almost an inch longer. my first impression though is positive. the tires are bad "edit profanity". they grip like a crack whore whose having her crack pipe ripped from her fingers. Installation was pretty easy but a few tricks are needed. i could probably do a detailed install explanation but i didn't take any pictures. the disk caliper isn't installed on fork yet, bss didn't send screws to mount it, waiting for a reply from abe. it may be that i'll have to get my own bolts for it (a spacer is used to make the caliper work on the ruck, and so that may be why he didn't send them). damn this is long. sorry.

I love the "rising sun" on the rad cover. I may just have to steal that idea from you. The gold rims do look good on a black ruck. I'm still waiting on my fork set but I have Canada Customs to deal with. It usually takes a day or two more for me to get stuff from the US.

thanks wain, go ahead and steal that, the picture doesn't show it, but it's a crappy hand painted deal. it was just an experiment. i suggest air brushing it if you can. it'll come out cleaner.

I love the clear 'cali' style light covers. I'm thinking about gettin some for my rear lights and ditching the front lights and putting integrated mini ones on.

hey smacky looks nice. was wondering what size/brand and where you got the tires. also was wondering if it was possible to lower the front end by letting the front forks slide higher into the fork crossmember things? this would make them stick up over the stock black upper fork. would this work in theory? a wheelbase extention kit would look sweet on your ruck. nice work dude

thanks pome, the tire are the famous michelin boppers, 130/90-10 rear, 120/90-10 front (same as oem kendas). from american motorcycle tire. $30us each. www.americanmototire.com/index.html?lang=en-us&target=d831.htmlhighly recommended even for stock wheels if your riding is only street. the shock legs have a groove in the top, (sorry blurry photo) so that when you tighten the top bolt on the crown piece, a pin is pushed into the groove. this locks the fork leg in the correct position for even height and more importantly in for safety. i guess it would be possible to remove the pin to move the leg up some but i don't recommend it. extension? waiting.... with other ordered parts. *EDIT* the tech guru's could probably help you lower the shock with maybe a lighter fork oil or some internal fork modification.

Did you put the boppers on yourself or did you have to take it to someone? if so how much for installation?

hey spoon, i didn't feel like struggling putting them on myself and risk scratching/damaging the rims. and because of the latter i took them to the local honda dealer for install. it was $30 for the pair. i'm sure someone else, i.e. a auto tire place could have done it cheaper but i didn't want to risk it.

o.k. rucksters (ruckaholics), i've been riding my ruck with the dio forks for most of the day. in one word WOW. in many words... the difference between stock and these forks is night and day. worth every penny. if bss offers to sell the fork legs alone i recommend that every ruckster make the switch. the shock absorption by these forks is better than the showa shock i had already installed on the rear. i purposely aimed a a pot hole, and the ride over it was smooth, not the bone jarring uh-oh from the stock forks. while going through a turn and hitting the road reflector i never lost confidence or felt out of control. these are way better than stock. a must if you are going off road and don't want to bend the front axle. it's like getting out of a home lowered vehicle and driving a cadillac. -smacky katt june 10, 2005
