I am really getting the hang of the handling dynamics of this neat bike. The first tank of gas got an astonishing 60 mpg. The motor is not broken in, I was riding in stiff winds at 50-60mph. A 250 4 stroke with belt auto drive which weighs 400lbs and I weigh 240 so the mileage was a pleasant surprize. Trying to strap on library books and mail was a challenge. I bungeed on an old nylon gym bag, really funcky. Off to Wally's World. A cooler $10 about 10" by 14" about a foot high. I removed some of the orig hardware holding down the rear deck and got longer metric hex bolts.
Bolted down the rear with fender washers to distribute the load and not pull through the thin plastic liner and used heavy duty 2" velcro on the front. It could be removed in a few minutes. Since it is a cooler it has a quick entry hatch in the top, it really handy. I also as Truckus did get a clock $2.59. I will look for a bigger cooler to better fit the space but this will do for now. The Honda sight on Battlescooter shows saddlebags, trunks, racks, windshields and many other drool producing items. I am going to carry a 1 gallon gas can and run the bike dry to accurately check the mileage including reserve capacity.
As the engine breaks in it keeps gaining acceleration and is quite peppy. Today I rode in some wicked cross winds and it was thrilling but it handles them well. On two lane roads passing large transfer trucks is teeth gnashing time. You need to hug the right and get ready for the backwash of a 120MPH gust, you are going 55 and the truck is going 65 and you are about 8 feet apart. Here are pix of the carrier and the face shield I had to get due to sand, bugs, small pebbles and other detritus. This is a neat bike that takes some getting used to by I am loving it more every day and we are having great weather
