Lookin' Good.
Did you oil your air filter? I've been wondering if I should or shouldn't oil my new one. It says it only needs oil in dusty areas.
Careful with that exposed rad!

Hey Nicad - I like the bars too - what did you have to do and which bars did you buy? I thought you lived in Seattle / I notice the Oregon plates....

Thanks Guys! You gotta extend all the wires if you want to have them routed under the gastank, im just going to zip tie them to the two cage bars in the center. I'm concerned about the splash im going to get without a fender up here in seattle...i have an mod idea in the works though.. The handlebar is your standard MTB handlebar, you can buy carbon fiber and all kinds of stuff, but realize this, if you do the mod, you will be set forward way more then usual. You cannot ride it with those handlebars while using the floorbed, it is just way too unfomfortable. I haven't oiled the filter...was i asupposed to? if so...uh-oh. heh. I still have oregon paltes from when i bought it. It looks cooler than the king county ones. -Ian

Dandy - if you run the wires underneath the fuel tank - can you still have them protected?
I am thinking of trimming my rear fender to look like the CBR rear fender...

i'm pretty sure the wires come stock running under the fuel tank. mine are under there anyways and they fit real nice. I have my CDI wires under there too with plenty of room. There are nice a secure too cuz they are surrounded by the gas tank on top and the metal floor on the bottom.
I was thinking about trimming my rear fender too. The CBR ones are awesome. If you do take some pics.

the cables are under the floor board, they run between the plastic and the fuel tank.

you should try painting the gastank and floor black to match the frame brace. If you painted it nice i bet it would look mean....I'm just spewing all my ideas that i haven't had the time/balls to try yet.

I just bought some mirrors and i didn't even notice till i bought em but they are the exact same mirrors as nicad has. I haven't installed them yet but they sure are light. They weigh nothing.
About the handlebar mod, Did use a standard size mtb stem (1 1/8 inch?).
And how did you intall the mirror on the throttle side? There is a hard plastic end where as the other side is just a layer of rubber you gotta punch a hole in. What did you use to get through that? Do you know if the mirrors work on the stock handlebar or do you need a smaller diameter mtb bar. It seems to me that you could make them work on the stock bar by just cutting the hole a bit smaller than the actual diamter of the bar. Lastly where did u pick up the Polini stickers? They're nice. Thanks

maybe I should have not started a new thread and looked at your reply first.
How did you shim up the Ruckus stub to fit tightly in the handle bar clamps
You have a great set-up - exactly what I had in mind.
What are you studying? What school?

I was looking closely at Nicad's pics and noticed your floorboard under the gas tank is metal. Mine is plastic. Strange.

The Ruckus has a belly pan that holds the brake line and wiring away from the frame. The other thing it does is keep the fuel tank from getting scratched and maybe cut. Anyway you can reomve the whole thing, when you do the brace it looks better to remove this piece. You can see a pic at www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_0423/floor_step/floor_step.cfmIan is right, if you remove your fender you will get wet real wet

Ordered my handlebars and stem last night. Using a 4" 15 degree rise to put a straight bar 3/4 of an inch above the old turn signal wings. Also have another idea of relocating the foot pegs. Between you, zoomerman, and scrib - I have taken the baton and am having a ball!!! Thanks you guys!!

Nicad, putting on my new flat bars, and I found out the controls have little 'dimples' that stabilized the controls on the bars. Did you grind yours off, or did you drill a hole in your bars??

Hi Zoomerman ;D - the pictures are not too far off now. I still have a few more things to do - the handlebar swap will have taken me three hours by the time I finish. Will have the bar set-up and complete - I had shaved off one of the dimples already, and with the brake-cable so stiff, I hope that was not a mistake, I will not shave off the throttle side. The 4" forward stem and the flat bars look really good to me, and with my size, the whole scoot will fit me better. The stock bars were too far back for me. I just wish I could put on a simpler air cleaner without rejetting the bike; I don't want to rejet until the warranty is done; also it runs so well now, I am cautious to mess with the motor itself. Keep up the good work here! :-[anticipation!!

You basically have to rejet if you change the air intake amount. Otherwise your fuel to air mix will be off and your scoot wont run well at all. But if you are putting on a new filter, i think you will already make your warranty null and void. I could be wrong but if it does null it, you might as well jet it.

I know this is off topic but some dealers do have common sense If a modification didn't cause the trouble your seeing them about the warranty thing is not an issue. The bottom line is if you make changes that ruin stuff your out of luck but if the changes have nothing to do with the failure your OK ;D

This is the first time I read this thread, wow, I really missed a big topic. My only thought of taking off the floorboard for that brace, how tight is our gas tank sealed. My ruckus was covered every night but there were a few times that I was at class when it had rained and she get wet a good dozen times. I just wouldn't want water to get in there because there is nothing worse that water in a small engine such as these. Bad News. I think removing all that plastic and puttin' on a brace looks totally bad a$$. I just thought of this, I'll have to go back and look at the pics but, isn't the floorboard and the platic that is under the seat all one piece. The few times I've taken all that off, it's one solid piece. Do you just cut the big floorboard piece of or does it come apart somehow?
