I was driving my ruckus with the carb and it was in the process of accelerating at or around 35 when the rpms quickly dropped and I immediately started losing power. I cut the throttle and let it wind down and then gunned it again and it did it again. I cut the throttle from full again and it did not do it anymore. But it has done it since then...
Am I running too lean so that it is hitting the top rpms and then backing down quickly leading to a Swigt Seize?
Any input would be great...
I am running PE20 with Air Pod I have a 38 pilot with a 1.25 turn setting on the air screw. I have a 92 pilot and the needle is set at position 4, counting from the top.
I'm thinking of going to a 35 pilot with probably a .75 to 1 turn and then a 95 or 98 main because at 38 and 92 it purrs but I can't get the idle setting right with a 95 and 38.

I really wish I could help. I have no idea. How long does it cut out before you've got normal power back? Is it like a 1-2mph thing or like 5mph? As a long shot maybe you've got bad gas or something and you're hitting water droplets.

could certainly be water. what does the plug look like?

I would agree it is either water or dirt in your jets

I think it is a lean jet only because this morning I ran a test up a very steep hill. I started at a 1/4 turn and let it accelerate up to 22 mph at which point it would hold. I then turned it past the 1/4 turn mark and it immediate lost rpms and I started slowing down. As soon as I brought it back to a 1/4 turn or under then it gained power and increased in speed and rpms. I was able to consistently repeat this several times.
So I think I need to lower the clip and probably even change out the needle for a quicker taper to the tip and/or narrow diameter. I am going to drop the pilot jet to 35 from 38 and bring up the main from 92 to 98. I am hopeful that will remedy the situation.
I have been no where near water except the occasion minor splash when going through a gutter.
Those are my thoughts....what do you think?

To be clear, whenever it does this, continues to lose power and rpms until I drop the throttle back.

To be clear, whenever it does this, continues to lose power and rpms until I drop the throttle back. 8-)SFC, you can determine which way to go by reading your spark plug. You know where the 1/4 throttle point is, obviously, so run continuously as long as you can at that setting on level ground if possible (1 mile would be good) and then hit the kill switch and brakes at the same time, releasing the throttle. Pull the plug and it should be tan or light brown on the insulator nose. Then screw the plug back in and run above 1/4 throttle (where it cuts out) as long as you can, preferably same distance, cut the engine and then read it. If it is white you are too lean, black you are too rich. You sound like you know what to do with the jet needle clip in either of those cases. If not, too rich lower the needle (move clip up in notches), too lean raise needle (move clip down in notches). Good luck!

I am working on tracking down a different needle as the top end is too rich and the middle is too lean. I'll update if I get anywhere. Unfortunately the carb I got was all over the map...it had a 90 main, 65 pilot, and a 3 throttle valve. The only stock part was the needle, probably because you can't find any to replace it with...though I might have a source.
As of right now I'm at 98 main, 35 pilot, and still a 3 throttle though I would like to get it down to a 2 or 1 as it leans out with too fast of a throttle, common on these slide carbs.
