Went to start my metro last night and it won't turn over. At first, I thought 'dead battery' as I let a friend ride it and thought he may have forgotton to turn the key off when done.
So, I charged the battery and gave it a shot this morning. Still no-go.
So, I started digging into things and have discovered the following:
When I turn on the key, the gage lighting flashes once and the starter relay clicks once.
The auto primer doesn't run
Battery is good, as I swapped it with my other Metro.
Relay is good, as I swapped this with my other Metro as well.
All fuses check out good.
Won't start using kick starter.
I'm leaning towards the ECU. I reset the ECU and it resets as it should, Any other ideas?
thanks!
Any other thoughts?

Kill switch? Have you done a compression test or valve check? The 4 things you need to get an engine running are spark, gas, air and compression. Just check those carefully one at a time and see which it is.

Kill switch? Other than the stuff I posted on UrbanScootin.com I can't really think of anything. Hopefully Chanito can steer you right when he comes on. Have you completed the ECM reset and a compression test or valve check? I haven't checked the kill switch - What wires are the kill switch? Is it a normally open or closed circuit? Did the ECM reset and it resets itself. Highly doubt it's internal in the engine - it's LIKELY an electrical problem. The engine is not turning over. It kicks over but the starter isn't working. Along with the starter, the primer/choke isn't working either.,

So when you flick the key on you don't hear a faint ticking/pumping sound of the fuel pumping priming?
Have you checked for spark?
The kill switch is just a switch on the bars...I had a bit of a problem with mine in the winter and when it was wet but the scooter still ran fine it just wouldn't die when I flicked the switch.
It seems like you might have to go analyze every wire and just look for a loose connector or a short or something. Electrical stuff is my weakest area, sorry.

Eliminated the kill switch as the problem - BTW, it's a normally open circuit. Since it's under warranty, I took it to my dealer. Unloaded it from the truck and low-and-behold, it fixed itself. Hmmm... Took it home, unloaded it, and the problem is back. I have narrowed the problem down to something under the engine. I THINK the connection at the starter may be loose. No, the primer doesn't 'click' when everything is turned on. Nothing works, not the horn, turn signals, nothing. Loading it back up and taking it to dealer. I'm very mechanical (a mechanical engineer), but heck with it. I paid for the warranty - might as well use it. Thanks! Glad to be here!

I didn't realize it was under warrentee still..I think you should take the lazy way out and have them fix it but make sure they tell you what was wrong so you can keep that in mind in the future. It sucks that it works sometimes so they might not totally fix it though.

What sucks is that I don't think the dealer knows anymore than I do. Like most dealers, they don't see too many Honda scoots. I told him everything I had done and he just stood there perplexed.... I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks!

Yeah dealers don't know anything but hopefully if they tinker long enough they'll figure it out or atleast not make things worse.
Good Luck ;D

Got the scoot back - it was a bad connection at the fuel pump relay. Glad to know it wasn't anything too serious.
Thanks for the help!

Great to know, a couple of weeks ago, something similar happened to Katrina (my ruckus) and it fixed itself, so if it happens again i know what to look for ;D ;D

Thx for reporting back. Do you know where the fuel pump relay wire is located? Is that down by the fuel filter on in the front battery box?

Don't know (my father picked it up as he lives close to the dealer) - but I know I swapped out the relay in the battery box and there were no loose connections. So, I don't think it's there.
I SUSPECT it's located somewhere down by the fuel tank - as the problem occurred and fixed itsleft after loading/unloading. The way I load it in my truck, the bottom plastic (on a Met) kind of drags.
Sorry I can't help any more.

Thx that's helpful. There are some wires down there so that's probably it. If I ever have a similar problem I'll know where to start looking.
