ok stupid question, has anyone tried just a stright pipe, w/o a muffler at all, idealy that will give the most power, i am machinacly incline and i know u need a pipe of some short of cold air will rush back into the engine and possibly crack a valve, but how lound is a stright pipe, put the back

Exhaust design is a black art. Its not about backpressure so much as it is about back pressure pulses. The correct exhaust would have a full wave back pressure pulse timed such that it would provide suction through valve overlap to draw more air/fuel into the combustion chamber, then a reflected pulse timed to hit the exhaust valve port just before the exhaust valve closes... all with a chamber at least twice as large as the motors displacement. Lots of trial and error to make real gains.
