I've asked a few people but I haven't received a response so I thought I would go public with my question :-)
I just put in a CDI and variator and now I am getting slow acceleration and 32 top speed, it used to be 37.
Chianti thought it had to do with the CDI and the Coil hook up but I also wonder about how I hooked up the red/green and green wire. I will paste what I sent to Chianti cause it's hard to explain.
---------
Thanks. The one thing I was wondering about was that instead of soldering the CDI red/green wire to the OEM red/green connector that plugs into the relay box I cut the OEM red/green wire about an inch down from the relay box and used a crimp connection to connect the CDI red/green wire so that the OEM red/green wire still goes into the relay box but the OEM red/green wire before where I made the crimp connection to the CDI red/green is not connected to anything.
That's hard to explain. If I did that part wrong would the scooter even start?
The same is true for the CDI green to the OEM green/black.

Whoa!! Time Out!!, First you post you messed up your shaft now you wondering about the CDI. Do you have the new variator back on? I learned the hard way to do one mod @ a time. Ride with the mod and see what it does all by itself. Then you only have one thing different to mess with. I doubt your CDI is messed if your scoot runs. The variator deal is more likely the culprit to losing speed but I'm not sure what went wrong with that install either. I'm just trying out my new variator now. I'm experimenting with roller weights and know the ones you choose can and do effect acceleration and top speed. May I sugest geting your shaft good as new and trying the scoot with the stock variator. Then you can judge whats goindg on with your CDI. Also may, haps have you changed your oil since you "lost top speed". I was running too much oil and couldn't get above 32mph. A coincidence? Need more details in order to help. You'll be fine, one mod at a time. Hope You Get Er Done!! ;D

Chianti is a good wine, i am just Chanito, the thing that worries me is those instalation connections to your CDI, and that is what bother me about not having a plug and play kit, there are two relays, one is your load cut relay and the other is your main relay, you need to have to take a good look at the wires going into the relays if it hasd a solid green is the load cut relay, and if it has a red wire then is the main relay, in any case you need to reconnect the wire you cut , let me know what have you done already
