The last few days, as the weather is warming up to a mere 40F, I notice a change in my ruck. My usual morning agenda is to wake up, take a shower, dress, pull my ruck out of the garage and start it to warm it up, go back upstairs, eat my breakfast and then leave for work. My breakfast usually takes about 10-15 minutes. By that time my Ruckus is niiiiiiiiice. But, for whatever reason, I haven't had the time (10-15 minutes) to warm it up. It's only been about 5 minutes. The problem within is this, anything but full throttle stalls the motor. It's that way for the next 2 miles to work. It really suck in traffic stalling all the time. Is is that I'm not letting it warm up enough? Now, keep in mind that my rucki is totally stock (motor-wise)

Very wierd considering you're totally stock. I 'd just take it to your local dealer. Sounds like your carb is messed. I really doubt that you need to let it warm up longer. If my Ruckus gets 2 min it's lucky and that's in temps from -30F to 80F. Usually I just fire it up, put on my helmet and push it out of the garage.

Totally agree, if is stalling and is stock, take it to the dealer, probably just an adjusment or maybe a faulty cold enrichment valve, but it should not stall at all, i live in south florida, so i just take it outside, fire her up and jump in it and away i go, believe or not idling for a long period of time is not that good on an engine, oil pressure is very low at idle, so you are putting a lot more wear on the engine, the proper way to warm is to ride normally for about 2-3 minutes (avoiding wide open throttle) so temps get even (that is the very reason for water cooling) and then let her have it, it will probably take up to 15 minutes to fully warm up, but, all you need is to avoid cold spots, and depending of were you are at the most it should take 3 minutes to even up the motor, and that is in the frozing north, here with temps in the 70's that is within seconds

Thanks for the advice. It's getting a bit warmer around here now-a-days. Maybe my probem will be fixed.....? We'll check the rucki out again once it stops raining.

How many miles on it? When the valves start wacking out the motor starts running funny(loss of compression)

Okay, this is what's happening....
I start it cold. It idles nice at a decent rpm for about, I'd say, 2-3 minutes. Then it just dies. So, what I've been doing is sitting there with it with my hand on the throttle to make sure it doesn't die. That usually lasts about 5-10 minutes depending on how cold it is outside. Generally, after 15-20 minutes warming it up it's okay. But it sometimes stalls at traffic lights even after it's warmed up.
The reason why I wait so long to warm up is that I hate stalling when I'm in traffic. Top speed would be about 20mph if I don't warm it up.
I'd like to fix this myself, considering the shop where I bought the ruckus is about 30 miles away city driving. So, it's not so easy to get it down there since I don't have a trailer.

Could someone have monkey'd with the idle speed ? Sounds like the auto choke works, or maybe it stays on way too long. hmmm
It should idle quite high 2000 rpm and the rear tire should be almost turning, or slowly turning when idling warm on the center-stand. I'd turn up the idle and see if that helps, if not it may be a computer glitch messing with the auto choke(dealer problem).

I don't think it's the idle speed. It was a nice day outside. So I took it for a spin for about 45 minutes or so. I got it good and hot. I got home, threw the stand down and just let it idle to see what happened. Well, it sounded good and idled at a "normal" rpm. But, it did still surge a little once or twice a minute.
Oh, and I also filled it up with 93 octane. Now, I know all about the octane thing through a post that I read on here somewhere. I was just hoping that I got a bad batch of gas last time I filled up. I'm just experimenting. Last tank I filled it up with 87 octane, by the way.
Another thing I noticed is that my top speed has slowed or it takes me a longer time to get there. Along with that, my off-the-line is slower too. It's almost as iff the clutch engages a little later than before (is there a clutch?).
I'm pretty handy when it comes to motorized things. This is my first scooter. So, I'm afraid to "explore" on my own.
I also forgot to mention that I am coming up on 140 miles on the odometer. So, it's brand spankin new... I'll see what happens with it this week. It's gonna rain a lot this week. So, I'll work on it later on, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm not sure whats going on It has to be one or both of these: Too much oil Too low idle speed If it's new take it to the dealer, it's the dealer who needs to fix it for ya... and for free! It could be a wet airfilter but you park indoors??? Loose wires, did the filter get wet while washing?

The only logical thing would be the "too much oil". I'll check it out tomorrow. Lately, I've just been warming it up before and after work for about 10-15 minutes. I haven't taken Rocky out in over a week. For the next two months, it's going to be all about my new Harley until I get my motorcycle license. The the ruck will come out to play again.
In the mean time, I'll be installing the new shock and floor pan and brace(and whatever else I get from the battlescooter store).

Good luck w/ the test. I am thinking of taking mine this summer. Gotta find someone w/ a bike to practice w/ and take the test on. I agree w/ everyone else on taking the ruckus to the dealer. Nice looking Harley , I saw the pic. Don't you have a delivery van for work load, the ruckus in that and take it to the dealer.
