I despise the American media. 2 days ago, Colin McRae died in a helicopter crash, and I just found out about it, today. But that's a complaint for another time. I just wanted to share with you guys the terrible news, too. And if you don't know who Colin McRae is, short story is he was Subaru's first World Rally Champion.  |

As a south-American (the continent) we follow Rally as closely as they follow Nascar over here, and Colin was one of my heroes, the news of his death this past weekend on a Helicopter accident were sad news indeed, i found out Saturday and did not post because i thought nobody would know who he was, i remember him best as a Ford Focus driver, but he was a Nissan driver in the Dakar rally, i will miss his wit on the interviews.

I don't follow the WRC as much as I did before Fox bought Speedvision and turned it into Nascar channel, but yeah.
Three of my heros went down in slightly over a year... first Steve Irwin, then Chris Benoit, now Colin McRae, I tell you... sometimes you just don't wanna get out of bed in the morning.

he's been big news over here for years,and you guys will never know the full extent of his achievements in his career,
things like when he drove a small road car as course car at a rally and was as fast as the wrc cars,or the time he beat everyone by 2mins on a wrc stage.
or the budget rally car he had just finished to make rallying affordable to others,
and the various scholarships he ran.
shame he didnt win the xgames,seeing as he was obviously the fastest by a mile.
I overheard the news by chance on sunday,and it its hard to believe and unfair it happened and his son was a victim too.

Great guy, and very sad news. Even though I raced NASCAR LMS for years, I think there is way too much coverage here of the sport and too little coverage of the "other" motorsports. NASCAR is kinda' like Harley Davidson though......best marketing dept. in the business. It's all based on $$$$$....See Ya', skuuter................. |

it's my 100th message, but no feeling of excitment... anyways, i even have a game "colin mcrae rally". they have actually quite a few named after him. i think he is the most famous rally pilot in the gaming industry. and he was very good at what he did. |
