It's late at night, I'm bored, and I'm planning to purchase my fourth digital camera, in the coming weeks (5th if I count my video camera that can take digital photos if I had a memory stick for it).
Right now I've got an 3.2 megapixel HP Photosmart 735 (well, Keri has it at the moment), it's my second. The first one stopped working when I was on vacation with my uncle two summers ago (and so I didn't get any shots of Rocky Mountain National Park). Luckily, HP seems to have an awesome warranty where they send you a refurbished camera, and you send your broke one back in the box that one came in. The door to the batteries is broke on this one.
I've got 4 megapixel Aiptek DV4500 that I've used more as a storage device and mp3 player than camera. It's also the one that fits best on the mount my brother made for the Ruckus, so if I ever get back to filming more on it, I'll probably use it.
My newest camera, I've had almost a year, is a Canon PowerShop S500 Digital Elph. It's 5 megapixels, and it's a pretty nifty camera. But the dial to switch shooting modes has stopped working. And Canon's warranty sucks, because they want me to ship it back to them in the box it came in, and they'll fix it, and ship it back, meaning I'll be weeks and weeks without my camera. And I just don't like the Aiptek for picture taking.
I carry my camera in my pocket, everywhere I go. Which is why they get messed up, but I've become accustomed to always being able to get a shot of anything that amuses me. Road signs, nice cars, pretty girls, sunsets, whatever. I'm always prepared.
So, I think I'm gonna throw down 400 bones and buy me a new camera, then send off the Canon to get it fixed.
The camera I'm looking at is an Olympus Stylus 720 sw. It's 7.1 megapixels, which is probably about 2 more than I really need, but the thing is it doesn't have a protruding lens. It doesn't have knobs or toggles or buttons that stick out. And it's thinner than my Canon which I thought was super thin till I held it up next to the Olympus. But the kicker is this camera is made to be able to withstand a 5 foot drop and shoot up to ten feet underwater. Okay, so I'm not taking my camera underwater, but if the thing is shockproof like it says, then hopefully it's not something I'll be too hard on.
But, I'm not sure about Olympus' warranty. And that's a big thing with me.
So, I'm wondering if anyone on here has any experience with Olympus cameras and possibly their warranty.
Oh, and if you're curious about any of the camera's I already have, I can give you a review of them, if you want.
