One thing I can't seem to get though is that when you view the main page the name of the threads that have been modified today aren't bold like they used to be. The little party hat guy still tells you if somethings new or you could look at the date but I still kinda like the bolt too.

:)Hey! this looks great, the background is cool, congrats to Kamino ;D ;D, Maybe a soft blue or green would be nicer than the white, but i like it so far, i miss the bold letters on the today postings, it was easier to get to the last postings, but so far the renovations done by DD are super cool ;D,

Well, I'm not completely satisfied with the background, so I plan to have another go at it... maybe I'll try different color than white, too... any suggestions?

I don't really like how you can tell the Ruckus's where cutout in this 2nd background. They just look like lower quality images. The blue is okay but I think it's a bit dark still and I don't think it goes with our red logo that great. The requirements for a background (that I can think of) are:
- doesn't clash with our red logo
- goes with our light grey / dark grey look (pretty easy)
- lets you read the text over top of the background
ie. "Ruckus Central :: General :: Speak Freely :: Site Renovations"
- looks good/cool/creative etc.
- isn't too overpowering
I think the current background meets most of those criteria except it's still hard to read text over (spacing them out might help...you could elimate doubles too) and I think it looks a bit 'busy' but not too bad. It's definately cool.
I think if we just used the currently background but made it in 'greyscale' then it wouldn't look as busy but it might look kinda boring cuz they'd all look the same which is why I suggested using custom Zoomers but that gets hard probably.
I think we should keep the Ruckus's on a white background if they are gonna look clearly cutout and grainy otherwise.

Could you whip up a 'test3' background but do the following:
- change it so both camo ruckus's aren't next to each other
- space them out slightly or make them a bit smaller and spaced out

Well, the reason you can really tell their cutout on the blue one is I just did a quick color change for the main white parts.
Yeah, when I made the pic, I had the two camos beside each other, after going through all the trouble to keep the yellow Ruckus and Big Ruckus apart... but I was too lazy to fix, as that was just a test one, and not supposed to be the finished product...
I'll try to whip something up, but I'm driving to Boone, tonight, so I might not get to get anything done till Friday night... we'll see.

I think when I redo it, I'll make a verticle picture instead of a horizontal one. That way when you scroll, you won't see the same two ruckii over each other... or I could just make the pic really big, so you never see two by each other... but, nah, that defeats the purpose.

A vertical picture is a great idea...that way we won't just see yellow butts and camo fronts on the left and big Ruckus's on the right. I don't think you should make it bigger though cuz it's already hard on 56k users. |

Can you choose your own background in the settings and then take a window shot? |

I getcha! I'm testing it out to gauge peoples reaction. I like how you can still see the Ruckus's but it's a bit more subdued. I think it's a cool compromise between full colour and B & W.
Is that background gonna stay hosted their permanently so I can use the link or should I re-host it? For now I'm using your link but I can throw it in my photobucket account if you want.

I'd rather you not rip my bandwidth, incase this board ever gets way more use or I decide to do something with my webspace.
Friday I didn't get nothing done 'cause I had to go to work earlier than I thought, and after Thursday's getting up at noon, and moving Keri and setting up her electronics (since she's a bit of a technophobe) and not gettin' to bed till 5 am, I passed out after I got home, last night. So, I think I'll just work on a a few pics at work, tonight, since it's not like I'll be doing much else. And I'll put up a poll or something.
