a short story by zoomerman...
Some may wonder why I like this little thing so much since I have experience on such bigger bikes. The GSXR 750 was great fun, seriously great fun. It truly was a rocket. I would regularly do 265 km/h (165mph) runs on it. It was smooth and confident at that speed. Handling was exact; carving corners with 480lbs below you is smooth and calm. I'm rambling now... well, I moved to a place where the cops are everywhere and the good roads are a distance away. So I sold it. Five years past and I kept thinking about my first bike... 1970's mini-bike, 3hp Briggs and Stratton engine, no gears, just squeeze and go. Squeeze and go because my older brother broke the original throttle control, so he rigged the throttle to work by pulling the brake lever. I loved that bike, so simple, such a delight when it would run. It was slow and wimpy but it worked. You couldn't be afraid of it; it was just a fun simple machine. You appreciated it for doing whatever it could. When we got it from the swap meet it was already in rough shape, and after 3 years of abusive riding by us boys it had a cracked frame and a stumbling, unreliable engine. One day I got so fed up with it running poorly that I picked up the back-end with one hand and nailed the throttle with the other. It revved to 80% of what I knew it could do and I continued revving, waiting for it to fix itself. Then it suddenly perked up and revved to 100% and I said, "There, that's better!” and I let the back-end down. It immediately stalled, and would never fire again. I was 12 then, now I'm 30, and I've got my mini-bike back.

I too had a Rupp minibike back in 70-71 when I was driving a moving van over the road. Many a weekend at some truckstop everyone that wanted a ride got to ride. ;D Mine had a 5 horse Briggs engine & would fly. Traded it around 1980 for a trashed out Honda Trail 90. When I moved to Texas in 1983 I gave it away because I thought I would be living in the city. Ended up in the country, & wanted another 2 wheel ride ever since. Now I have a better ride. Was 25 years old back then, & had a lot of fun. Going on 60 now & still having a ball on 2 wheels. Ride safe. LET'S SCOOTER

Sounds like my story, I still have my Millennium Falcon motorcycle but the Ruckus is just better and it makes me feel like a kid and it's better for cruizing for ladies I just wish I could use it to ride 1,000mi days

Well, i never imagine i will enjoy my ruckus so much, i just bought it, becouse i needed i ride i could park inside my job, and in Florida if it does not have more than 50 cc you don't need a motorcycle driver license, so i decided on a scooter, and when i saw the ruckus i just felt in love, driving it every day have been a blast, even on weekends, i sometimes drive it around. Everybody thinks i am going crazy becouse i allways went for fast cars and mountain bikes, so they asumed i would bore out of the scooter in a week, however i never had so much fun going this slow since racing four cycle go karts as a kid. ;D

Hey, it's like I said, the Ruckus is the most fun you can have goin' under forty miles and hour, without a little female intereaction ;D And actually, if my memory serves me right, it's more fun than that.
The Ruckus is my first foray on two wheels (other than tryin' to flip cars) and I love it... of course, I'm bogged down by wanting some more speed, so maybe one day, I'll buy a motorcycle... but I the Ruckus I'll love forever!
Now I wanna go outside and give her a kiss... I'd probably wind up with my lips stuck to her...

Wow, this thread brings back memories! I was raised with a rattle trap old scooter, my step brother had (and still has) a Trail 70, and my Dad had (also still has) a '78 FLH Harley. I think it's in my genes. Dad raced and did stunts on Knuckleheads and Scouts...before Mr. Honda brought bikes to the U.S. I wanted a bike of my own, but like alot of kids, that didn't happen. I rode with my Dad on the old Shovel on warm summer evenings. My brother gave me one ride on the Trail 70, scared the crap outta me. But I still wanted a two wheeled something. Now, after years of riding I discovered the Ruckus. Who knew she'd turn out to be one of my most cherished machines?! Heck, the little Ruckus has had more modifications in 4 months than my 600 Shadow and that's been mine for 10 years. Thanks Zoomerman for a cool thread.

My first bike was a Honda XL70 I got it in grade 3 and rode it till grade 10 i think. All i ever di to it was fill the tank and gave it one oil change. I kicked the kicked start right off of it. You can't kill a Honda! I used to ride that thing back and forth in an old field behind my house all day and most of the night. www.off-road.com/dirtbike/ machines/HondaHistory/ Ruckass

Hiya folks - been awhile. I LOVE my Ruckus so much because it reminds me of my dad, who is presently fighting for his life in a cancer battle. When I was a lad, he had a Cushman and would scoop me up when he would roll by and stand between his feet as we zoomed down to the store of the small town we lived in. To this day, he wants to help me rebuild my '85 Aero 50 - he is one of those old codgers who senses what is wrong with a motor; or anything else for that sake. In my late teens, I bought and loved a Honda Trail 90 for $25 dollars - in pieces; rebuilt it and had a ball in the nearby hilly woods. Once I laid belly down on the seat with my feet straight back and zoomed it to 53mph down the neary Highline Community College road 240th. This is a two mile long hill that loses about 800 vertical feet - nice and straight - My friends had a good laugh watching that one. From then on - I have only owned Hondas'. Love 'em I have already broken a record saying this, but I have had more fun around town on this Ruckus than I did my big Shadow. I am having a ball. Abe, I owe you some pictures. Sorry I am delinquent on that. My wife and I have been starting our own practice in our little town; in addition to our day jobs at Boeing Finance and the three nights a week working with troubled kids at several local mental health clinics. Hey - 60 hours isn't enough -we are going for 65 - 70 hours a week - - someone give me a lobotomy!!!!

My first bike was a 5 hp Tote Goat I put tons of miles on it, but I always wanted a Trail 90. Later went through a couple of Harleys, the last big bike was an 1100 Magna. The funny thing is I have always liked the little bikes better. The 250 Rebel was fun but too cramped. I got my first moped in the 70s a Yamaha Chappy and loved it (still have it). I just enjoy buzzing along on the little bikes. When I saw the Ruckus, I had to have one. If it had a low range like the old Chappy it would be the perfect ride. I have always wanted to tour the country on a moped> Rocky

1. It reminds me of the mini bike I couldn't have growing up 2. You can slide it around and lift the tires of the ground (Try that with my 750# GOLDWING) 3. I live 2 minutes from work and can actually enjoy the ride 4. It is the most economical motorized around town transportation imaginable 5. It's a BLAST
