Anybody know if there are electronically controlled differences between the pre-2006 and 2006+ Mets/Ruckii, such as timing, that might make the older models accelerate better? I was racing and trading off my 2006 Met with my former 2002 - and the 2002 seemed to accelerate better in the 18-27mph range (about that). In comparison, my 2006 seems to peter-out around 18-27, just doesn't have the pull that I was feeling when I hopped on the 2002. The 2002 had a Kitaco with 5.5g, the 2006 a Polini with 5.8g, but I don't think the gearing was the difference...

How about this: Does anybody notice a drop in rpms around 22mph, and if so, is it electronic or variator-related? Just trying to hone in on some things. RPMs drop a little on my scoot right around there. I always thought it was variator related, but not sure now...

The 2006+ are better bikes all around, I think you are noticing a fluke. I know this because I own both and I'd NEVER buy a pre-06 again.

Yeah my 06 is way faster across the board then my 03...and no, I don't notice a drop in RPMs...perhaps what you're noticing is that your power is dying off and so the variator is catching up at that point.

FYI: IHAR posted that the 2006 Met's are restricted - there's a restrictor plate over the intake similar to those on the Met IIs. I pulled this off and my concerns above, about a lack of power within certain range, compared to my 2002, have been alleviated.
