Has anyone eliminated the stock airbox and substitutes a K&N style airfilter, AND jetted properly for this change? If so, what size mainjet did you use? Pilot jet? needle? Are there kits for this? Ive looked with factory and Cobra but neither seems to have much.

Regarding the jetting...I'm running a 42/82 setup right now (I think) but that's with the big bore piston and I'm going to re-do that soon and adjust the idle mix screw so I don't need to run such a big slow jet.
What you'll probably want to do is screw the idle mix screw out a few turns and maybe go up a size with the slow jet if that's your only mod.

I was running with 40/82 (duh, I originally posted "42") in my '03 w/o the BB. Are you at a really high elevation? I thought the magic # was 42/88 for the BB. I was planning on starting with 42/90 with my BB.

What you'll probably want to do is screw the idle mix screw out a few turns and maybe go up a size with the slow jet if that's your only mod. Really, that's all? I was running with 40/42 in my '03 w/o the BB. Are you at a really high elevation? I thought the magic # was 42/88 for the BB. I was planning on starting with 42/90 with my BB. I've tested the 40/90 combo in a big bore Ruckus and the bottom end seemed weak, but once it was past 30 the speed picked up considerably. This is without adjusting the idle mix screw. For breaking in the big bore I suggest you go with a tried and true 42/90 combo, and fine tune it to 42/88 after 100 miles. Later, you can always try adjusting the idle mix screw and possibly the 40 pilot and 88-92 main jet. Experimenting too much without a good base of data may do more harm than good during the break-in period.

This week I have been on a non-stop tuneathon. In my 06 the 40/88 combo was no bueno. The 42/88 with the idle mix 1/4 out it tip top. Now I've moved on to tranny tuning. Tomorrow is roller weight day. Also, the 03 runs great with the big bore and a 35/78 combo, no adjustments to the idle screw. And a coil lopped off the spring.

I never fully dialed in my BB jetting....I'm actually not even 100% what jets I have in there....I know I've got the 42 slow jet and my main jet is either 82 or 85 (cuz the bigger jets are in my jet case) but I don't feel like cracking it open just to check so I'll leave it until my Ruckus is almost road worth again and then I'll rejet. With my current setup, it doesn't idle (lean) but it rips 5 - 40mph and then the top end medicore (lean?) I think what I need to do is reduce my slow jet size down to a 40 or 38 and then add fuel on the bottom and top ends via a larger main jet and turning out the idle mix screw so that it runs good across the board.

I have to go back and finish the carb adjusting thread , but anyway, after any modification, the very first adjustment (before even think about rejetting either slow or main jet) should be the idle mixture, and now that we have find a tool of less than 3 dollars, there is no excuse not to do it, only if you need to move the adjuster screw more than 3/4 of a turn you should think about a bigger slow jet

Okay I'll try it your way when I get my Ruckus back on the road.
