Ok... I installed my Polini Variator today... but using a online guide, my parts just did not line up as well as it did in the online guide? Here is the flywheel put on after the new variator is installed. I pinched the belt tight, I got the variator all the way back, the flywheel flush up against it viewing from behind. I then put on the kickstart washer, but the teeth on the crankshaft do not come out, they are barely flush, just a little resessed even. Here is the bolt tightened down to 25lbs with a tourque wrench. Does the bolt look positioned right, or should it be further down? Does everything look alright??? I keep reading that if the teeth are not sticking out further than what I am seeing, that iminent death of the crankshaft is going to happen? I am not going to give her a test ride down the road until I get some feedback :-P Thanks for the help everyone!!!!!

That looks like the right amount of thread so it's likely you have it on there tight enough. That is good because if it's not tight enough then the variator can wobble and wear all the splines off the crank...effectively wrecking it. I know it happened to me (under warrentee about 3 years ago).
What you can't tell from those pics is whether the kickstarter washer nicely slid onto the splines or if it was forcefully mashed on. Since you said you couldn't get it started on the threads there is a real possibility it bungled up the splines a little as it was forced on but this shouldn't be the end of the world even if it did happen. If you did this a bunch of times then the end of the splines might strip out so your kickstarter would be dead but if you've just done it once or twice then the only negative side effect is likely more difficulty sliding the parts on and off in the future.
