Hi guys, I am having a hard time finding information about gear oil(I am sure it has come up before). First off, I just got my ruck and I hit 150miles on it so I figure as part of the break in process I will change the gear oil. Where is the filler location?? How often do I wanna change it after that etc... Just fill me in on some the transmission essential as far as maintenance. Thanks guys.

Drain bolt is on the rear tire. I use 80w90 gear oil, make sure it says "Hypoid" on the bottle. Head out for a good 15min ride to heat the oil up then drain it by putting your Ruck on the center stand and tipping it over as far as you can. It only holds .1 of a litre so don't expect too much to come out. When you fill it back up keep putting it in untill it starts to spill out, then let it sit for a minute so the excess can drain and you are all done.

8-)Yeah! you use the same hole, and you tilt the scooter to empty it and let it flat on the stand to fill it, this is the only place that in my opinion is worth to use Syntethic oil as it does not need to be change often, so the extra insurance of the synt makes sense

OK to use AMSOIL motorcycle 10-40 in the gear box??? www.amsoil.com/storefront/mcf.aspx> It meets SAE 80W/90, API GL-1 gear oil requirements and is recommended for transmissions on both 4- and 2-stroke motorcycles. AMSOIL MCF is recommended for Honda®, Kawasaki®, Yamaha®, Suzuki®, BMW®, Husqvarna®, Victory® and other motorcycles where 10W-40 or 20W-40 engine oils or SAE 80W/90, GL-1 gear oils are used. Not recommended where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.

I trust Amsoil so if they say it meets the spec's then it should work fine but I still feel better about using gear oil..it's quite a bit thicker.
