Hello all.
Man do I love my BR, it has to be one of the best cycles I have ever had .
Anyway, the only thing I would change is the angle of the backrest, so I made a supplemental backrest as follows:
1. Went to the local Michael's Crafts store and bought one black canvas tote bag, 17"x13"x4"x4".
2. From same place bought 1 bag of Poly-fil Nu-FoamTM, 15"x17"x2" made by Fairfield, Danbury, Ct.
3. I cut the foam in 3 pieces and stuffed it into the canvas bag . I formed it into a pillow that would give back support so I could sit at a comfortable upright position.
4. Using 1/8" and 1/4" 3mm rivets, I folded the canvas to make a hem, and riveted it in several spots to hold the pad together.
5. I removed both tote handles and riveted one to the pad to make a holding strap which goes around the backrest to hold the whole business in place.
6. You may have to vary the amount of Polyfilm foam to accommodate your back. In the end, I was satisfied until something better comes along. I have pictures of this on the BR and as soon as I figure out how to upload them, I will. Total cost was 11 bucks.
On another subject, after looking through numerous cycle catalogs I could not find a decent storage bag for the storage area above the headlights. Finally found a nice one at Staples. It is a lunch cooler for kids, but it has lots of potential. All I did was rivet a strap on the back and attached it with small bungee cords. This way I can easily pack a lunch and take the tote with me to work. Since my BR is yellow, this bag color coordinates real well. Cost $11.25 at Staples.
If you are looking for storage bags, look in sporting goods stores, pet shops, camera shops, office supply stores, and places like Walmart. There are tons of bags out there to suit your needs.
My next project is a strap-type helmet holder.
If anyone has ideas for improvement let me know.
Here's some pictures of the installs:
