Near the back wheel hub of the Ruckus, on the left side, it says "oil .1 litre" and there's a nut that looks like a drain nut. My manual says nothing about it. Anyone know if this needs changing or checking ?

I look at the service manual, and could not find service intervals for changing the rear end oil, however it said to check the level, but not at what milage, to check the level just remove the plug, oil should come out or be just in level with the plug, if not just add a little untill the level is correct, do not overtighten the plug. this oil does not get use during its time so it should not get low unless you have a leak, i will check the level every other oil change, wich i change every 600 miles, i figure changing at 6000 the rear end oil is a good idea. I would like to hear if anybody have better info.

If it looks bad it is. If you ride in the dirt you need to change it often. Changing the oil will keep those parts nice ;D
Just use regular 4stroke motorcycle oil.

That must be a misprint #10 is to light, the factory service manual for the ruckus recoment hypoid gear oil #90, gears need hypoid oil to lubricate becouse there is no pump in the system so they relay on the oil clinging to the gears for lubrication, hypoid remain clingy even when hot, engine oil does not, being that the gears in this reduction are straight cut they should require less maintenance than those in your car where they are bevel, however they do require maintenance, so check it as much as you feel confortable.

I'll need to check that out. You got me. Honda always has the need for gear oil near the fill point. Lots of Honda Trannys and rear ends use engine oil. Sorry I never checked that one. I'm pretty sure mine had regular old oil in it. When you remove the filler cap it will smell something awful if it's gear old.
