h.o cam not for the 4 valve zoomer it seems..

well guess what i'm going to say?

was taking a load of pics of my f.i system in close up
which i hope will be coming soon,when seeing as
i had the seat and floor board and engine cover off,
i then felt tempted to have little looky,under the rocker cover
on my zoomer 4 valve engine.
easy job,just 7x 8mm bolts and wa-hey.
yes it has 4 valves,as there is on the upper level
2 inlet valves
and the lower are the exhaust valves.

typical beautiful honda engineering.
love those tiny cam followers.

as chanito said the rocker arm is in a vee shape
on both sets,operating froma single cam ;D

BUT !!!!

the cam lobes are around 1 cm closer together
than the 2 valve h.o cam !!

when lining up the followers with the h.o cam that
i placed above it,the followers are not central
on the h.o cam,
the h.o cam maybe the same length but the lobes are further apart.

so what i am saying is that,
the distance of say the far left of the left lobe
to the far right of the right lobe is around 1 cm to much
on the h.o cam .oh poo.

you could say go grind 1 cm off the sprocket side lobe,
but that is not a good idea.

i did NOT take the old one out luckily to find this out,
but i am sure that they have different dimensions.

so does anyone want to buy via paypal an un-used h.o cam?

If you really want the H.O cam, you could order one from a shop, send it out to Abe, he'd do the work on it, and then ship it back to you.

The H.O cam i believe is just a modified version of the stock cam if i am not mistaken

was under the impression that the cam was made from new different,so thanks for the idea.
do u think they metal spray it ,
then re-profile it?

so to re-cap ,they would alter my original ?

I believe they weld stuff onto it, then grind it down to make the lobes wider which gives a longer duration. Email BSS and he should be able to explain it to you. I remember DD or chanito saying it was a regrind of the original cam

He may even let you return the H.O, so he can sell it to someone else Since youd be paying for shipping back anyways

Timber is right, call Jason and see if he can get your 4 valve cam regrind and exchange you H.O. cam. It might be good idea for him to start selling the 4 valve cams.
I wish we could get somebody to do cams from scratch as they would be cheaper, but sadly we are stuck with regrinds
Please can you post some pics of your head so we can see a comparation of the cams side by side

I suspect Jason doesn't have an easy source for stock Euro cams and the market isnt' that big which is why he hasn't bothered to make any. If you send him your he should be able to get one made or you could probably take it to a good motorcycle performance place in the UK to get it done but they wouldn't know as well how much too add so you might end up with something too radical. Good luck with selling it....keep announcing that it's for sale and someone will take it.

That was why i suggested to get a stock 4 valve cam, send it to Abe, have him do the work, youd be paying for shipping out to BSS already, he would definitely take the cam back... he exchanged my rollerwieghts when i ordered the wrong size, all you have to do is pay for shipping both ways

Yeah Timbers right....giving Jason a call for a return and possible a regrind of your 4V cam is the way to go. That way you don't have to take a hit re-selling it.

would be great if they did take it back,and it would be to they're advantage to get
the dimensions of a 4v cam for reference too. theres probably a bunch of germans
swedes and other brits gagging for an h.o cam profile.

i;m not going to put the metro gearing back in till i get more top end power to pull it.the standard cogs with the polini vari is about rite for the power i have atmo,remembering that the zoomer is rated at 4hp,not 4.9hp of your 06 machines.

however , i will be buying another 4v head to play with and take pics of,
the valves alone are nearly £20 each! ($38?) so i may just get the head without the valves.
i want to try porting and enlarging the inlet and exhaust ports for a possible gain in flow.

i have taken loads of pics of my bike,but ran out of film before i took the plunge to take the rocker cover off,took some pics with my camera phone put its not great detail.

the very helpful newbie 20thebear has offered to host the pics for me ,cos i'm a dork when it comes to anything other than signing -in,so they should turn up in the rides section.
then the 4v head pics asap,i promise !

but i itook loads of pics of my injection system
for you to look at. which will be there from the start.

but first things first,i'm gonna get a 4v cam when i 've spoke to b.s
as i don't want downtime off my ride.
