I used an old motorcycle shock adjusting tool. It's like a pair of pliers with two 90 degree extensions on each jaw to grab the notches. Most modern tool kits on metric cruisers come with a single tool with a half circle and one protrusion to grab the notch (works in either direction) If you click on this link you should see a set of shocks www.oldbikebarn.com/part.php?id=435&subcategory=Shocks&bike=&DisplayPerPage=20The little dohicky at the bottom right of the pic is the $2 tool that the chinese refuse will not include with their shocks It's a handle with a "C" at the top end with a single tooth in it OK here's a better way to see it. Unfortunately I got it off a UK site. This one has two sizes, but at least now you can see what I was describing.

Yeah that's gonna be so sweet. I'm stoked for pics. If I didn't already have a nice aftermarket shock I'd be signing up for one of those too.

Use a strap wrench, it works really well on my chrome shock. They're the rubber strap and handle type that look like oil filter removers, pretty cheap and handy for other stuff too.
