I know what the size is..but is there any other type besides the NKG plug that we can use..does it really make a difference?? I want a Bosch 4+ plug or a splitfire or something else in it. any ideas?

I'd love to find out if there is a better plug to use. I've got an aftermarket coil, wire and the 'Power Spark Exciter' to ground the current but I'm still using the stock plug. I've tried the plug recommended for high speed riding but I haven't ventured from NKG. I think there is an iridium plug or do available...actually I think they changed the brand for 06...I'll compare my 03 and 06.... Why don't you take the initiative to research our options and post a wonderfully informing thread about our options

Alrighty then. I've called and went to every shop around here in the middle of nowhere, and nothing has come from it. I'm gonna do some shopping around on the internet to see if I can find something out. Where did you get your aftermarket coil and wire from dandy?

Sounds good! My aftermarket coil is made by a company called 'Shoot Shiny' and it is supposedly a H.O. coil and it uses a larger 'wire' 7mm wire. I got it on ebay and you can usually find them if you search for 'scooter coil' but none are listed right now. The seller is 'daywot'. Here's a link to the one I bought (you'll have to copy/paste it and delete the space in the middle which appears for some reason): cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4617913858&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT You get the actual coil plus the wire and the end thing that fits over the spark plug. This end piece just screws on and off though and in the below pic I've screwed it off and then I cut the wire shorter and screwed on the 'Power Spark Exciter' from BattleScooter which replaces the other end cap and grounds the spark via that spring which touches the metal on the spark plug. The coil is about 45$ and the Exciter is 32$. The Exciter is everything you see on the end of the wire but if you just get the Shoot Shiny coil you'll have everything you need. According to the shop manual, the recommended plug is: NGK -> normal - CR8EH-9 cold climate - CR7EH-9 (runs hotter) high speed riding - CR9EH-9 (runs cooler) Or if you want to use Denso: normal - U24FER9 cold climate - U22FER9 (runs hotter) high speed riding - U27FER9 (runs cooler) There's gotta be a better plug though.

Good pic, good narrative, very informative. (I told you it would just attach to the spark plug end of ANY coil wire)

I found some iridium plugs available for the Ruckus through www.ngk.com :-) www.ngk.comI was going to attach my findings but I still don't know how to do that. That website is not actually NGK the manufacturer, but they source "hard-to-find" plugs. It shows the standard plug and the premium iridium one for anyone that is interested.... Kyle

I went to the NGK site via your link and selected 'Power Sports' and then 'Motorcycle/Scooter' and then 'Honda' and then '50' and then '2003 NPS50' and then it lists the regular and iridium plugs.
Surprisingly, there is only a $0.72 price difference as the Iridium one is $6.95. The part # for the Iridium plug is CR8EHIX-9 which is very similar to the regular plug which is CR8EH-9.
You can actually buy them directly from NGK from that site....well kinda, it links you to sparkplugs.com. I would have bought one but their shipping costs outside the USA are crazy. The cheapest option is $24 which is rediculous for 1 spark plug.
It also sucks that if you're outside the USA they won't let you specify a shipping address that's different from your billing one. Chanito is going to be mailing me a tail light next week so I was gonna maybe ship a plug to him too but they won't allow that.
BTW, USA residents can choose from a variety of shipping options ranging from $8-28 which is a little better.

so whats your opinion on changing the SS coil and exciter DD?

Well the coil is $50 and the exciter is about $30 so that's $80 for no noticable difference so I'd say it's not worth it. All that really matters is that you've got a strong spark and stock our spark is good so having a slightly better one doesn't really make a difference. If there is any difference it's just that it's a bit more forgiving when your mix is off a little but that's probably not true either.
On the other hand, once you've got the wheelbase extension you can see these parts and they do look kinda cool.
