hi, could anyone give me the stock roller's weight please ? that'd be cool cause I'm getting my zoomer saturday and I'm shopping for rollers to tune it while I wait for the polini variator.

The stock weights in a North American Ruckus are 7.5g. I'd guess that the euro ones are the same but I don't know for sure.

Wow! That's nice and light. You guys must zip off the line. no and yes, the european stock vario is limited to only use 2/3 of the pulley diameter when the rollers reach their end position. so i think that the EU roller trams are less steep and need less weight than the US. i assume both motors are set to have same RPM. (not the RPM for max acceleration but to be quiet and comfortable) btw, so i don't understand why US rucksters shave their stock vario which increases overall gear and costs lowend power. is theire stil some little limitation, don't it uses its max diameter in stock ?

Stock the two halves don't get close enough to push the belt all the way up regardless of how heavy your weights are (In the N. American variator). The spacer is just too long and limits how close the 2 halves get. Shaving it moves them closer (because your outer plate is permanently farther in) which gears you taller across the board and costs low end accel. but for some it's worth it for the increase in top speed. You can add lighter rollers to counteract the taller gear ratios at low speeds/midrange but you'll still suck 0-5mph because the variator is geared as low as possible which is now taller than stock. Lighter weights can't change this cuz the lowest possible gearing is now taller.
Ideally people would get an aftermarket variator which has deeper cutouts still so the range of gearing is wider which means you can be nice and low off the line and still tall up top for a high top speed. If you only care about one thing or the other (fast off the line or higher top speed) you can modify the stocker but if you want both you need an aftermarket variator.

I weighed my stock USDM '06 rollers last night, they are 7.0 Grams.

Wow you're really diving in to your new Ruckus. Are you sure they're 7.0g and not 7.5g? If you're right then either people in the past have been wrong or they lighten them a bit for 2006.

Yeah I'm sure, I used a very accurate digi scale that I use for....well....um....I just have one, OK! I wanted to know because I was thinking of just lightening the stock rollers to see if it had the same effect as buying new ones. I shaved them down to 6.6 grams each and it seemed to help a bit, but I still need some valve work so we're not at her full potential yet.... KP

Thanks for the info....I'll have to look into whether the old ones are 7.0 as well now.

Pulled the varitor out of the new bone stock and really broken '03 tonight, they are 7.5 to 7.6 grams, the heavier ones had a bit more rust on them KP

Cool, thanks for weighing them. It looks like the 06 rollers are lighter...can anyone else verify this?
