We know the stock CDI box cuts the revs at 8000rpm but what does it redline at ?

I think we'd have to find the honda engineers who designed the engine to answer that. I can't imagine that we'll ever be able to reach the redline without putting a manual transmission in. By the way, is that possible? Convert it to a manual tranny?

I'd love to throw a little 50cc dirtbike tranny on there... can't be too hard can it? unbolt the drive unit... bolt on the dirtbike gearbox...?

I imagine lots of things aren't 'too' hard, but in reality would probably be a real "edit profanity" to do. I still think the Vespa style hand shifter would be the best suited. If you could find a scrapped scoot, try to weld the tranny onto the ruckus then fix up the vespa for some real low cc danger. We should sick the elves on this one.  |

Easier said than done  I love belt drive on scooters so you won't see me doing it. Now cutting the tranny off of a CR500 motor, YES. I haven't done it because I'm not sure how to carry the gas. You would need 4 gallons to use it, so where would it go? |
