:)I got a nail in the rear tire and put goop in thrtr to seal it. It seems to be holding its air. The can says the stuff will make a permanent repair. I thought maybe I'd just replace the naill with a sharp screw and leave it like that--instead of paying 80-100$ to Honda to replace the tire. It (the tire)only has about 1000m on it, or less. Has anyone else done such a thing or am I a completewacko for considering it. The puncture is in the groove/slot so is rarely in cdirect contact w the rd.

I wouldn't bother with the screw...if you get low on air that screw could hit the rim and bend so you'd have a hard time getting it back out and it could damage the rim. Mainly though, I just don't think it'll do much. I've had a rear tire puncture too and I used some sealant goop which worked fine for a long time. I'd just leave it with the sealant if you don't want to replace it.
BTW, you can get a new tire for $30-$40 and most places will switch tires for about $5-$15.

i would just leave it alone, or you can put a patch on it and it would be fix forever

If the puncture is more than 1" off center a,Vulcanized Patch & Plug repair will not last. Centripital (sp?) forces will tear off the patch on the inside. If, the hole is within 1" of the center it will hold without a problem. Any hole that is MORE than 1" off center can only be plugged to get you home, at less than maximum speed. Do not trust any repair to a motorcycle or scooter tire when the hole is off the center. It is more than likely to blow again. Could cause injury or DEATH!

i have had a puncture in rear tire, from a nail about 1/4 inch diameter, and repaired it with a regular motorcycle tire repair kit, it's about 1.5 inches off center, but still holds air with no problem. it's been about three weeks now. i just don't want to toss an almost new michelin bopper. no worries here, if it's my time to die, it's time to die. A patch should do a great job, obviously within reason

IT IS TIRE HEIGHT X TIRE WIDTH X .12= 0Z OF SLIME TO PUT INTO TIRE FOR SPEEDS BELOW 45 AND (HEIGHT X WIDTH X .065=OZ) FOR SPEEDS ABOVE 45

I got a puncture on the FIRST DAY I bought my '05 ruckus (Screw in front tire.) I bought a three dollar tire repair kit... the one you push the strip into the hole with the included tool and trim the excess. I now have 8500 miles never a problem. My tires are getting thin in the tread and its probably time for a new set. so it lasted the life of the tire!
Not to change the subject but, is this typical for tire life? thanks
