What do you think about oil stabilizer ? I saw "lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer" with a kind of toy mechanism to show how much oil stay on the pieces. they say to include like 20 percent of it in oil...would a thickier oil do the same ?

I do not know about Lucas but most additives that make the oil stickier do not last, it might be a good idea if you just want to refresh your oil instead of changing it, a far better option is to replace the oil at 600 miles intervals or 1000 kilometers

Thanks Chanito ! I've just made my second oil change and myself this time and it went great !!! With all tips you give on this site it's pretty easy... I bought "castrol 4-stroke motorcycle oil" but i read somewhere that you can use normal oil....what's the difference ? The price ?

A lot of 4-stroke bikes have a 'wet clutch' which means the clutch is right in with the engine oil. As a result, special additives are required to keep it working properly. These additives aren't bad for our engines but aren't required because we don't have a wet clutch so you can use regular car oil since all cars are 4-strokes too.

Actually is the other way around, some engine oils have friction modifiers which can harm the wet clutches (which we do not have ) And Kirk, thanks and enjoy your scooter ;D ;D

Stabilizers are generally aimed at very high mileage and/ or highly stressed engines ran for long terms. Also, recently the lubricant industry has targeted engines that sit idle for long periods of time. For most of us there would probably be very little/ if any gain in our Rucks.....save the bucks for MODS
