Well after installing my new 270mm Shock from Battlescooter, I thought hey, lets change the spark plug, then lets remove the battery and make sure there is a full charge (since I just bought it out of winter storage), then hey, I should remove the front wheel in preparation for my new tire arriving this week (sweet deal off ebay for KENDA's). Now my bike is in a million pieces as I thought I would wait for my new variator to arrive this week along with my new tires before reassembling.
My question is, now that I basically have this thing down to the frame, is there anything I can do while I am in here that would make sense to check or replace? Also if I wanted to paint the frame, what is the best way to do so? i.e. sanding and which kind of paint to use? How can I tell indefinitely looking at the front brake shoes if they are worn enough to replace?\
Thanks guys! Kyle

Mod the front fender, get a seat cover, and repaint the battery box. Why not, you're already out of commission.

Unless the paint is really chipped up, and rust is present.I would recommend not repainting. The Factory Finish is probably Polyurethane, it is very tough and what you can get in spray cans etc. will not hold a candle to the original finish.
As for applying Polyurethane yourself, it is extremely toxic and a job best left to Professionals
If your Ruckus has been through the mill and rust is present, then you could sand or sandblast it away and prime and paint with Enamel based spray can paints.

Check out your owners manual for wear info on the front brakes. There is a little tab that rotates and lines up with a tick mark when your pads need replacement but likely they're fine. They're good for 20,000 miles in my experience.
While you're out of commission check out: - Your valves gaps (it'll rev happier if they're right) - Wash and WAX your scoot and give it the full treatment...ie. Armour all your seat and sidewalls (don't get it on the threads). Tighten up your brakes a little...wash your engine...check your tire PSI..swap some new grips on...lower your front turn signals, relocate the horn etc.

Oops....that should have read 'polish your windshield' instead of 'lower your signals'.
