I found Motomaster Performance Plus Full Synthetic oil on sale at Canadian Tire. It is 33% off so it is just up a bit from Petroleum based oil. I bought 4 liters. It is made by ESSO so it ought to be OK.

Put in Canadian Tire Performance 1 full synthetic today . It is made by ESSO. I went for a 12 mile or so run. It seems to be a bit quicker. Is it just me?

Amsoil is a great oil and i am planning to use it on my final gear case, but expensive synthetic motor oil is only a necesity if you are planning 2500 miles oil changes, i recomend a 600 miles interval and the use of conventinal oil should be good enought which viscostity of oil do you uswe? for the transmission?

i was wondering the same thing: i found oil called "rotella" made by shell, it's "hd 80w90 gear oil". it doesn't have a word "hypoid" in it, because "hd" most likely refers to "heavy duty", which is writen on the bottle as well. but in description it says that it "protects hypoid gears from wear and scuffing" is that good enough? and, how often should i change the gear oil? i reckon, every 1000 miles or so, except for the first one, around 300?

8-)Hypoid is just the kind of gear, they are not straight but slanted, to make them quieter, usually hypoid gear oils have more sticky additives to prevent it from being push away and fail to lube. most of car gear oils are hypoid gear oils, but some times you find gear oils for truck which are not, but if it has like in your case design or made to protect hypoid gears, then is OK. I put my gear oil at my 2 oil change and i have not change it again, usually i like to do an early oil change (600 MILES) in the gears and that should be enough for another 10k miles and that is the only place i use synthetic oil
