i was wondering how you tightened the drive belt ...do you just turn the variator clockwise and will that ruin the crank..thanks

You can't tighten it. If you pulled it down into the rear clutch to get the variator on easy then there will be some slop that doesn't go away if you turn the clutch really but as soon as you fire it up it sorts itself out.
