Alright so Im going to start putting aftermarket part on my 05 ruckus to make it faster and to make it look better. What are the first things i should put on it?

I don't think anyone can tell you what to put on it to make it look better. Some of us already think it looks perfect. As for more speed, there's a wealth of information on the site. Read, read, read... (There'll be a test, later) Oh, and

Regarding speed...the most important thing is that you don't get your hopes up too high. You can add a few MPH and improve the acceleration a bit but it's always going to feel like the same fairly slow scooter.
You could easily drop $1000 on aftermarket parts and wind up about 2mph faster. For example: - H.O. cam ($172) - CDI ($165) - Variator ($80) - Exhaust ($200-$400) - Carb ($200)
With all of these parts you could expect to gain 1-5mph for your $1000 and countless hours of work.
What you want to do is decide on your goals first. How fast do you want to go? And is that top speed what you want to cruise at? Or is that just the speed you want to hit infrequently so you can brag about it online? Either way, if you don't do Chanito's Big Bore kit then you aren't going to gain much over 40mph with your 2005 Ruckus. The newer ('06 - present) Ruckus are a little faster and you can mod them up to about 45mph without the big bore so if you really care about speed you should sell yours and start with a newer one.
In my opinion, if you want just a little boost in acceleration to help you off the line a bit then toss in lighter roller weights. A set of six 6g rollers will add a bit of acceleration so you might get to 30mph in 10 seconds instead of 12. You could also toss in an aftermarket variator which gears you taller on the top end. This will add a few mph when it's nice out but the taller gearing will hurt you even more up hils or when it's windy out. All the rest of the mods (CDI's, cams, etc) will result in very minor gains unless you're previously done the Chanito Big Bore.
The Chanito Big Bore is a 60cc kit and it's really the only mod that normally produces a clearly noticable boost in performance. It's still not extremely radical but it's good for a noticable improvement in acceleration and normally a few mph on the top end too. If you do the big bore then you can take it a step further with those other mods (Carb, cam, cdi etc) but you're looking at diminishing returns for your buck.
The only mod that is a sweet bang for the buck that really everyone should do is the lighter rollers. They're about $10-$20 for a set and they help a little. If you're willing to spend money an aftermarket variator is next and then the Chanito big bore. At that point if you're still swimming in money and still dreaming of a satisfyingly fast Ruckus (which you'll never have with the stock engine) then you can sink your money into those other mods.

Hey!, wow wow, come on :DanDan, I bought an 08 ruck about 3 months ago. Stock performance: 45 MPH downhill 32 MPH uphill 35-39 crusing flats Installed Polini variator, 6 5.5g rolers 49 MPH down hill 35 MPH uphill minor improvement of acceleration. I was happy, but still felt there was more to do so.... Drilled out stock exhaust: No increase or decrease in performance, just a nicer sound on the down throttle Designed/built custom intake with KN high flow filter: jetted to 85MJ 35SJ: 51 MPH down hill !! ;D 35-38 uphill Easily gets to 40 cruising flats Can feel the power, as well as hear the power, oh it sounds so sweet. So, I go one further. Install new Posh 06+ CDI, jet to 88MJ 35SJ Now i keep reading that a ruck going 50+ is an unobtainable dream without H.O. cam or big bore kit, but.. NOW... 55 MPH down hill, at least. Seriously, the speedo needle gos past the over heating symbol, not the light, but the little picture of wavy lines and a dipstick. Now cruises to 43 on flats. I couldn't stop smiling for days after I hit that top speed just when i was starting to believe that it may not be possible. Is this just "cause i have a new ruck w/ only 1500 mi. and did everything just right? Seems to to me that many people on the forum get jollies from hitting 42MPH? What am I missing here, or rather what are they missing?

Everyone does need to take note that results may vary, but what Dan and others usually offer is what can generally be accepted. (oh, and 42 would be amazing on my '04!, but I'm happy with 39).

And I'm not sure that the '08s don't run better than the previous years. Everybody with one seems to be reporting an average higher speed... perhaps that's something to explore.

I wish my '08 had a red line like that. I smack into it at 45mph. Even with the polini and a really steep hill.

I have an 07 ruckus and stock it would hit the rev limiter around 44 mph downhill. Since upgrading to a posh variator I havnt hit the limiter at all nor have I had long enough stretch of downhill road to get past 51 mph or so.

I have an 08 and I regularly get it up to 45 and sometimes more on long enough stretches of road.
And I'm in Florida so of course that means no hills here.
Bone stock performance wise..and I weigh about 173.
I have hit 42 with my girlfriend on the back.

I also have an 08 and going down hill and tucking i can only hit 44 that only cause of rev limiter. Are you sure you are stock. I could beleive 45 down hill but not sometimes more. But if this is true ......wanna trade lol. I hit 25 with my wife on the back and she gets nervous hahaha. anyway nice performance

I have just a stock 05 with the polini variator and i finally hit 41 on flat grounds that in itself was enough to make me happy, plus going lots faster on my uphills.

they go in the variator. depending on your weight is how you determine the roller weight. but they come wwith the variator

My Stock 08 hits 42 on a long flat without a tail wind and I cruise 40 pretty easily. I weigh in at 207. I built a sizable windscreen that makes a substantial difference with all around performance. Just installed an MRP exhaust. No real power increase but I feel a little safer making more noise. Getting ready to put in new KN variator and weights to start testing for balance between accel and top speed. When I stop working so much I am hoping to meet up and ride with Chanito and possibly do the BB.
