Hi, brand new here. I have a 2007 winter camo Ruckus, completely OEM bone stock. I just moved from Texas, 450 feet, to So Oregon at around 4000-4100 feet.
My Ruck hadn't ran in 3-4 years, I cleaned the tank and plug, got new battery, fuel filter and air filter. Did an oil change. I put a little Berrymans in a fresh non ethanol gallon. I sprayed carb cleaner directly into the carb, blew it out with air. It started running pretty quick. It wouldn't idle, sometimes if it was real hot it would, then it would start, idle, i put 10 miles on it.
The next day it acted all gummed up again, I put more Barrymans in, it started, ran about 15 seconds then stalled. It would stay running with a touch of throttle, once hotter it idled a little rough. I let it sit for 20 minutes idling and it got better and better, I thought I was cleaning it out.
The next day same thing, started stalled after a few seconds, runs with a little throttle, gets hotter, gets better. Now it idles way sooner but won't go over 20 barely and won't rev up, it's great off the line, great idle, will Rev up on the stand but it's slow to do that.
At 4000 feet would a leaning of the mixture with the idle fuel Brass D screw on the carb be in order? Could I need a re-jet for the low, like a smaller jet, because I'm too rich, and that makes it not want to idle cold? Could the high jet be off too?
Any ideas/experiences are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for any reply

You are in luck! Honda actually sold a high altittude model of the ruckus and spec'd it for a #72 main jet. You can actually buy the jet at your local honda dealership. You want PN: 99101-ZH8-0720 just go to the parts desk and give them the part number, dont say what it is for or they may not look for you. My local Honda dealership was shocked when I told them that the scooter used the same carb parts as the older civics did!

Thanks so much. The local Honda motorcycle only wants me to bring it in, and says the jets should be ok. 2 locals said the jets are off, and they are easy to change. I'm going to go with that new high jet and go from there. Thanks again for the info
