Hi everyone, I just took apart my crankcase, doing a valve shim adjustment for the first time… noticed a bunch of oil sitting at the bottom. Is this normal? Or do I have a leak somewhere?
Bought this Ruckus a year ago and have had problems starting, bogging, stalls ever since. Did a carb cleaning once a few months ago which seemed to remedy the problem for a while. Lately though the stalling and bogging has gotten bad. Bad smell when I start up and rev high.
I did just do an oil change a week ago, wondering if I may have overfilled. One other note is that when I removed the cover to the crank case, the rubber gasket fell out completely, I’m not sure it was sealed all the way.
Any advice welcome… thanks.

Hey Motoi, sorry to leave you hanging. Good on you for diggin into your engine for a shim adjustment! I'm not 100% on what you mean by oil sitting at the bottoms, but anything on the engine exterior isnt really meant to be there, same with oil in the belt drive area as oil and drive belts don't go together. The gasket on the valve cover isn't anything to write home about, but it works well enough to keep the oil in when its all snugged up correctly.
I've heard that the Starting Enrichment valves on the carb tend to fail and if you have a friend that would let you borrow their valve for a test I think that would be a good place to start.
