Hello, I am trying to find a shock that will work with my 2014 Ruck. I am a very big guy (around 300#) and am having a confusing time finding one which will work for me. I have read up on the fourms and found several options that may work I am looking for recommendations. Firstly please indicate what works for you and if any modifications are needed. Please send me links 1. Ncy 1000-1286 265mm Ready to ship from amazon so thats a plus I have read that some people have to adjust the airbox and others say it fit right in. 2. Forsa Performance Shock 252mm Not much to say about this option but its available from ruckshop 3. Doppler Very hard to find online and not much other info then fits right in. 4. Aero 80 NH80/CH80 266mm Heard very good things about this shock from the fourms and seems to fit right in Cannot find on ebay Please help lol 5. Showa 310mm or 285mm Couldn't find a place to buy it, and didn't find out much in my search. So theirs the list. Thanks in advance for your help

I have the NCY shock myself and quite like it however I'm about half your weight at 160lbs, bout 180 geared up. My buddy whose about 250lbs likes the way my ruck rides with the NCY better than his stock one does. It's definitely a good buy since it has adjustable preload which will allow you to set it up to take your weight and still have free play for the suspension travel. Not the cheapest shock in the world but worth it in my opinion.

Hey Baizy
First of all thanks for the reply.
I was wondering if you had anything to say about the installation of the ncy shock??? Some reviews on amazon said it fit right in and others mentioned modifying the air box.
Are you riding a stock 2007 ruck? I am riding a 2014 stock ruck.
Thanks for your help bro

The NCY isn't meant to fit with the stock airbox but that doesn't necessarily mean it wont. I just adjusted it to the max length and that got the spring seat to clear the airbox. The spring will also rub a bit on the tire. It's great for adjustment but it's also a little girthy to replace the stock spring. I'll take a photo side by side for you.

Hey baizy
Thanks for the clarification. I am guessing i wont have to worry about the airbox. If i do have issues with the airbox, what do i do to fix it? I thought i read in a different post that you can use some washers to make the airbox slightly out of the way.
I do expect to try it a few times to fit with a friend helping me out.
Now im onto the question about the tire rubbing. What did you do to make it stop?
Thanks again for the photos
And thanks again for helping a total noob

Shimming with washers is really the last resort. You may also have to remove the bolt that holds the wheel guard to the airbox for that extra clearance. For the tire rub I just.adjusted the preload up and shimmed the lower mount over to get as much room as possible. Its a very light rub so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
